MemberI just bought a Sunbook which is N145 with a Qi Pixel sunlight readable screen. It works great in direct sunlight but when I close the lid it powers off and goes to instant on mode. I would like to be able to disable this but sleep is the only option in the control panel even if I create a new power profile.
Does anyone know how to disable sleep on lid close on the N145?
Or a related question I see Linux has been installed on the N145. If you’re running Linux does closing the lid put it to sleep?

MemberThe available functions for a lid close action will be dependent on you operating system. In Windows 7 (full version, NOT starter) you are able to select either 1) Do Nothing 2)Sleep 3)Hibernate 4)Shut Down. Obvioulsy the action you are after is 1)Do Nothing.
If the is not available in “Control Panel>Power Options>Change Plan Settings>Change Advanced Power Settings>Power Button and Lid>Lid Close Action” then it maybe a limitation of you OS, not sure if this due to ‘Windows 7 Starter’ as the first thing I did was install Win7 Ultimate.

Member‘gartylad’ and ‘capitanscience’ – FYI – “not sure if this due to ‘Windows 7 Starter’ “ on my N220, still running W7 starter its the same 4 options – ” 1) Do Nothing 2)Sleep 3)Hibernate 4)Shut Down. “

MemberI run Kubuntu 10.04.25 on my N110. It is fully configurable as in Windows – I have mine ‘Do Nothing’ when I close the lid.

MemberI upgraded to Windows 7 Pro and I still have only the choice of sleep on lid close. I will upgrade to ultimate but I am not optimistic if pro doesn’t work.
I will then try a live CD with ubuntu and if lid close doesn’t cause sleep I will reinstall Windows 7 from the Microsoft CD.March 2, 2011 at 9:21 pm #218319capitanscience
MemberI installed ubuntu netbook and it doesn’t power off on lid close, so I will do a clean install of Windows 7 ultimate today or tomorrow,

MemberA clean install of Windows 7 ultimate gets rid of sleep only on lid close. However, sleep is no longer an option.

MemberThe problem of unchangeable Sleep on every event can easily be solved by either uninstalling, or disabling “samsung fast booting”.
If you want to get rid of it, goto the control panel and uninstall it.
If not, then run “c:Program FilesSamsungSFBFastBoot.exe” and disable it.

MemberThanks Flaker, Samsung Fast Start was causing the same problem for me. I looked all over for the cause, and your post was the only place I found the solution. I disabled Fast Start and now I am able to change the “Lid change action” to something other than “sleep” in Power Options. thank you so much!
