pretty ignorant
MemberThanks for any help anyone can offer:
I’m writing from America and here, the n140 is being offered only with Win7. I am reluctant to purchase the model because, although it appears to be a bettter hardware choice than the nc10, I greatly prefer XP.
Can anyone help with finding XP drivers for a win7 OEM n140? I’m pretty ignorant.October 28, 2009 at 1:49 pm #204330jeepers01

[/quote1256737719]As an alternative you could look for an XP OEM version for sale and install it in favour of the Win 7 installation supplied with the N140.I think you will like Win 7, which perhaps takes a bit of getting used to , but it is an improvement worth having IMHO so I would question the need to purchase XP when Win 7 is installed for free. : )

MemberJeepers: thanks! indeed for the helpful reply. Any ideas where one may find an XP OEM disk?
One note and a more queston, please. The note: i was caught in the Vista debacle about two years ago and that has left such a residual contempt for new MS OS’s, that I am loathe to try Win7 exclusively. I thought i’d partition the drive, keep Win7 on the machine for later testing, but use XP to get up and running fast. Which leads to my question, please:
How/Where may one purchase an XP OEM?
I see only the XP disks available on the net in the U.S., and buying overseas is quite problematic-
I did try to purchase the XP version of the n140 from Amazon U.K. and other U.K. vendors a month ago, but they all told me the same thing: the law [read, contract with MS] forbids them to ship outside the UK.
Are OEM XP disks available anywhere you might know?
Thanks.again.November 19, 2009 at 10:41 am #204339jessenf
MemberI really feel that Win7 on the Samsung N140 is really sluggish. I even disabled a lot of the fancy graphics and yet it is still sluggish. I am considering to use WinXP instead. Does anyone know if it is safe to download xp drivers from this site…http://www.netbookfiles.com/c/198/samsung-n140-drivers/

I don’t know about that website, but why not go to the US Samsung site instead and download the XP drivers from there, they are supposed to be multi-language.

MemberHi all,
Thank you for your replies. I still haven’t made the switch to XP. Still using Windows 7. As days goes by, I am more and more convinced that Win 7 is not the right choice for the Samsung N140. It is really sluggish. It is slower than my desktop that has half the specs of my new netbook.

MemberWindows 7 is of-course a better option 🙂

Participantjessenf – Welcome to the forum
By all accounts Win 7 runs well on the N140 and it also runs well on my NC10. Therefore it should run well on your machine as well. As a suggestion head over to the Window 7 Forum and there are many hint and tips that should get your installation running well.
If you come across a specific problem just ask 🙂
