MemberHey there,
A fortnight ago I bought a N140 and have been very happy with it generally. However, over the holidays I travelled cross-country by train and experienced some very odd problems with the touchpad while in transit. I was only able to navigate the screen with my fingertip for about 5 mins at a time after which the cursor stopped responding and in some instances changed to a “four arrow” cursor, changing screen size/resolution every time I tried moving up or own. The problem did not repeat itself while I was using the netbook at home, but on my return journey it happened again. The high-speed trains did vibrate and since things calmed down again once the trip was over, I am thinking the problem might be related to the vibrations of the train.Has anyone experienced this? And would this be a reason to return the netbook under the warranty – which would be a major headache, but if I can’t use the thing while on the move what’s the point…?
Thank you!

Participantkwalker – Welcome to the forum
That does seem a unique problem and I can see why you suspect the train vibrations. However you could try re-installing/upgrading the Synaptics touchpad driver.
I realise that you don’t want to have to return the unit under warranty but it might be a good idea to ring Samsung and discuss it through with them. They may know of a fix for the issue and also it would be an ideal time to register the issue with them as if it returns in the future it will be a known warranty issue for your machine.
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on

MemberThanks very much! The vague references to the touchpad I have been able to find on the web suggested reinstalling the driver too. Thing is – (and yes, I am not confident with these things) – I never installed it in the first place (the device was set up when I got it) so not sure where I would find the driver/exe. Would you be kind enough to post a very quick DIY guide?
If reinstalling is no help I will try to find a local Samsung number (I am in Germany).

Participantkwalker – The touchpad driver can be downloaded from the Samsung Download site.
Instructions are provided when you click on the driver description.Hope this helps and good luck

MemberHi,
Had the same problem (5mins then dead/four cursor issues) using my N130 whilst in bed. Could never work out why my touchpad was sometimes not working. Turns out it was because the cable to my phone charger was sometimes under the laptop (back central). Perhaps your Samsung’s intermittent touchpad may be due to something similar!
