MemberAbout 70% of the time I put my N140 into hibernation and try to wake it up, it simply freezes at the black screen with ” | ” character flashing. Has anyone else experienced this and/or know how to fix this problem?

Memberi’m having the similar problem! Just that mine freezes almost 99% of the time, and the harddrive kept making wierd noises. I’m planning to format the whole computer and install win7 instead, to see what happens…

MemberI have win7 Ultimate installed installed now, after initially having win7 Starter. The problem occurred with both.

ParticipantJust a thought – I wonder if these issues are happening with the 05CU bios released on 15 January 2010?
It might be an issue addressed in the update, but unfortunately Samsung do not issue any notes with their bios updates.
Hope this helps

MemberHi
I have 05CU Bios on my N140
Use hibernation all the time with no problems so far on Win 7 UltimateMaybe you could try deleting hibernation temp data & try again?
Fingers crossed

MemberHi, sorry for the reply from ages ago. I went travelling (minus the netbook) and completely forgot about it. Anyway, I’m back now and using the netbook and the same problem resides! I’ve Googled it and I see I’m not the only one with this problem, but I couldn’t find a solution.
Thanks for the suggestion of the BIOS update, but when I tried installing it, it failed as my BIOS is newer. Any other suggestions?
Thanks again.

MemberAnyone..?

MemberIt happened to me (W7 starter, 05CU bios) once, when (unknown to me) Firefox had opened an unwanted page (I’m not sure if it was a popup). After closing the page in question I put it into hibernation again and it then ‘revived’ normally.

MemberHave you tried the suggestion from Enox yet Gavie?

MemberHi Tony, could you explain how to actually carry out Enox’s suggestion, please? I Googled it, but I assume it’s more complex than just choosing to delete the restore data when turning on from Hibernation fails, right?
Thanks (and to you too, Enox).

MemberHi Gavie,
It is even more simple, have a look here.
After which if your hibernation file is corrupt then you will make a new, fresh one next time you hibernate.

MemberI think I’ve turned off Hibernation now (using the control panel). So far no problems, so fingers crossed it stays this way.
Cheers guys!
