MemberHi I have just ordered up my sammy n130 and wondered if anyone had successfully installed Apple OSX Leopard on their netbook, I know that it is possible to install onto certain PC’s and laptops. I would really love to do this if possible as having to run any version of windows fills me with a sense of impending doom.
Great forum as it as already answered a lot of questions I have had about the 130.
Also if OSX is not a goer what is the best non buggy stable hassle free version of windows that would be best for me to install, thanks guys.

MemberHi anubis, welcome to the forum,
We tend to stick to ‘normal’ licensed or open source OSs on these forums, but a spot of Googling shows that other forums indicate that NC10s have been hackintoshed successfully.
There are various versions of Linux discussed on the ‘Linux and other OS chat’ forums here as they have no licensing issues to worry about generally. If you prefer not to use Windows then it might be worth a nose in there 🙂

MemberThanks Tonytb, I have been mac based for 20 years now but finally decided that as good as apple are there is no excuse for them not to be competitive with their PC counterparts the cheapest mac laptop is £700 which is a stupid amount of money when you compare PC laptops.
I was hoping to take the cheap option and get a Netbook and bastardise it to run OSX which is a fantastic operating system and as I already have all the software it would not be costly.
Anyway thank you for the reply, if I cant get it to work what do you recommend from the windows range?

MemberXP and Win 7 appear to have most fans, but I cannot say that I have tried other than XP yet. OS is generally a personal choice, there is the ‘feel’ of your chosen one to consider. Win 7 Starter may be the most least liked, but again it’s choice. There are various forums here to gather a lot of information from 🙂
“Even though we’re using a standard retail-purchased copy of OS X, the disclaimer: Apple does not like Hackintoshing. It violates the OS X EULA” – This is an excerpt from How to Hackintosh a Dell Mini 9, which is why we prefer not to discuss, encourage or endorse such activities on these forums. (The link is merely to confirm my source).

Memberthanks tonytb i will give it a look and probably have a go as i now have the netbook and windows seems to be all i dreaded it to be, I was aware of apple’s licence about only installing onto apple based machines as i my last job was tech support for apple computers in print environments.
If i can get a stable version of Osx running on here i will be a very happy chap as the netbook is perfect for me to get in my duty bag without attracting a lot of attention and there are plenty of hotspots on area that i can get a connection.
thanks again for all your help.

ParticipantI’d recommend taking a look at [MOD EDIT] Link removed ~TCMuffin as it deals with running OSX on Samsung netbooks. You may have to sign up to view the forum though.
Sorry Alfihar, but I’ve removed your link to the forum discussing installing and using Mac OS X on a non-Mac computer and I’ve locked this thread.
Jez has asked the moderators to “direct any Mac OS discussion elsewhere – Apple does not sell installation discs so this cannot be done legally”.
