MemberHi,
I recently bought my n130 with win 7 starter included (thought it was a nice little extra since ive got xp already).
After I “worked” a few days with windows 7, i decided to try win xp instead to see how my netbook works with it.
After i created a bootable usb xp installation i tried to install it the same way i would do it on a desktop pc.
Unfortunately, i had no luck with that so far.
I checked the BIOS for any boot order option – nothing.Did I miss anything or are those new netbooks built to ONLY work with Win 7 (Starter)?

[/quote1261100610]Hi xise, it seems you could boot and install win xp on a samsung n130; please, could you tell me exactly which progran (as its build/version) did you use in order to make your pendrive totally functional??
Well, i have a kingstone 16gb pendrive; and i’ve used winsetupfromusb and wintoflash. The pendrive manages to boot (win 7 ultimate) and i can see the keyboard language selection and the “install windows” button, but when i press it, it says me it couldn’t found any cd/dvd drive (???) and gives me the option to examine through partitions (C, X and BOOT or something like that).
Besides, tell me which brand of pendrive did you use as its size; i’m thinking mine is too big to “become a bootable usb device”, sorry for me being a desperate psycho.
PD: I mentioned to you win 7 ultimate, ’cause i wanted to install that one; another option was to install win xp like you did; it boots fine and even it allows me create/delete partitions and formating, but when the basic files installations bar starts, it says it couldn’t read from cd drive (again>?????). Another thing was that in the partitions table, the USB partition was labeled as” drive: U”.
I hope you can reply, man to tell you the truth, the netbook is with no SO installed actually, because of that.
Best regards!!

Memberwell, last night i found out the pendrive i was using was a generic 512mb fake one attempting to be a 16gb kingston, today i bought a 4gb sandisk and it booted and installed xp in the netbook like a charm!!
apologies for my desesperation shown right before, see ya!December 19, 2009 at 6:54 pm #206794jeepers01
