MemberHi, I have a N130 and the F4 Recovery function does not work at boot up, Windows no longer boots, all I can do is view the BIOS.
With a USB stick with USB Admin Tool (Samsung Recovery Solution III) taken from my NC10 I can access the Admin Tool on the N130, sort of. It comes up with an error during loading at boot up after setting BIOS to boot from USB, if I click OK on the error, SRSIII error (m_hDllCHKSEC(Z:WinClonkmdfChkSec.dll) == NULL), it continues to load and runs with limited functionality. But I can access CMD prompt so can then run Manager1.exe from the Z: drive to access the other functions.
What is on the x: drive?
My system has
c: volume has no label for what would have been os and data, currently empty
z: volume is recovery
and
x: volume is boot
Diskpart – list disk shows:
disk status size free
Disk 0 Online 149gb 8mbDiskpart – list volume shows:
volume Ltr Label Fs Type Size Status Info
volume 0 C NTFS Partition 142gb Healthy
volume 2 Z RECOVERY NTFS Partition 7170mb Healthy HiddenAlso, I have a NC10 which came with 2 discs:
System Recovery Media – Wins XP Home Ed
System Software Media – NC10/N110
Would these help me to get the N130 back up and running?
A step by step guide would be greatly appreciated.November 15, 2010 at 12:58 am #217081yardie
MemberOk, so after much deliberation I decided to re-partition and format the whole HD using the Admin Tool which I luckily had on a USB stick from another machine, which then recreated the recovery partition and then imported my recovery data. Next I attempt to do a complete recovery with the original file created when the netbook was first set up but it aborts the process half way through saying the .wc1 file is corrupt and unreadable.
How do I install Windows now? Not proving simple!
I have an external USB CD-RW drive, a 2gb usb stick and an XPHome installation disc.
So for all of those hesitating about doing this believe me it is perfectly safe to do so but be sure you have backed up all the drives first (I simply used xcopy to an external USB harddrive) including your .wc1, .wc0 and woo files as these are your SRSIII recovery files and will be needed to get a complete system back up and running, ie.namely your original OS, without which appears to be unrecoverable without them!!!November 15, 2010 at 3:35 pm #217080__spc__
