N130 here. The battery on this thing never is at 100%, even though I have it plugged in the wall all the time. It stays around 30% and then if it ever is unplugged, it lasts for like 5 mins. Other thing I notice is the amber charging battery light seems to always be on as well.
Could there be something wrong with the battery?
Sometimes the battery not showing 100% can be a calibration issue, ie you need to fully charge it and then tell it that’s 100%. However I don’t think that’s your problem if it isn’t lasting long away from the mains.
Sounds like the battery isn’t charging or there is a problem with it. I’d contact your supplier or Samsung support. Unless your netbook is really old in which case maybe the battery has passed its useful life!
Actually, it does charge to 100%. Thing is, it always seems to lower itself even while its plugged in. Also, even at full charge it will not last very long unplugged (maybe… 15-20 minutes?). Makes it kinda annoying when I just want to quickly use it with another PC so I can work on things on both at same time.
The netbook isn’t that old, it was made in October 2009. But I guess the battery might be wearing out? Could a surge cause that? I usually have the netbook plugged into a UPS, but before that it was plugged directly into the wall.
