Hello
I’m trying to piece together an N130 from a bunch of parts I was given, and am having a little difficulty working out what goes where (I know I am missing a few pieces).
There’s a 10 pin connector to the left of the ram slot, below the cpu fan, and I have no idea what belongs in it!
I am missing the the power jack and cable, I believe it connects to the 4 pin socket above the mini pci slot. Replacements are rather expensive on ebay, and I figure I could easily make something up, if I knew what connected to each pin.
Searching has turned up a few pics, but they were a little blurry and couldn’t answer my 2 questions.
Any help appreciated
Thanks
That 10 pin connector I believe is the 80H Decoder port, nothing should be connected to it as it’s used for diagnostics.
Also yeah the power jack should be the one above the half-sized mini-PCIe slot that.
Cletus_Van_Damme – Welcome to the forum
Can I ask how you came across the N130 parts?
A friend bought the netbook on ebay, with a broken screen and a few bits missing. His intention was to use the motherboard and a few other parts to make a very compact pc in a custom case, using an external monitor. When he realised that he couldn’t easily get it to output to an external screen (without configuring it in windows – for which he’s need a working lcd!) he gave up on the project and gave what was left to me, and went the ITX route.
I plan to do something similar, but using a replacement LCD. It’s really just a silly project to amuse myself with. I’d like to do it all as cheaply as possible, buying as few n130 parts as poss. What I have is motherboard, keyboard, speakers and broken screen. The casing is long gone. I basically want to get power to the motherboard and see if looks alive, before splashing out on a new screen
Cletus_Van_Damme – You seem to have inherited quite a project 🙂
Have you tried pressing [Fn] + [F4] to switch the video output to an external monitor?
Hope this helps
