MemberHi
I have a nc10 and my son has a n130.
The n130 verson of windows has a error ,add remove programs never comes up it says populating and never works(apart from in safe mode).
when i close the window it says rundll32.exe not responting end task or cancel.I have tried the basic restore which just does windows and preserves the data but no good.
My son does not have the cds that come with the n130 but i have the restore cds that come with my nc10. Both have xp on them. Can i use my restore cd to repair the instalation and how do i do it without losing programs and data. I need to restore from the cd and preserve the programs and data also.

Participantukgadget – Welcome to the forum
If you re-load the OS your programs will be lost.
Your best bet is to back up your data to an external source ie. optical drive or hdd or memory stick.A full restore with F4 at boot will restore the machine but you will have to re-load your programs and your data.
Hope this helps

Doesn’t F4 do a restore based on your last back-up? (e.g. with all your programs already installed etc.?)

MemberHi
When i restore from my earliest image even the first image i made when brand new the problem still exists, thats why i wanded to restore from cd. when i put mc nc10 xp restore cd in my external dvd drive i get the option to re instal windows and keep data intact. I wondered if anyone has tried this and will the data remain ok.
thxFebruary 13, 2010 at 7:13 pm #210765jeepers01

F4 restores the machine to a position just after the initial status setup. ie. the Samsung default installation. see here on page 2If you use the Samsung Recovery Solution application then this will indeed restore the machine with all your installed software as per your last backup. see here on page 1
Hope this helps explain the difference

thx[/quote1266088524]That indicates there is a problem with your image. ie the problem may have existed before the image was taken? You can re-install XP and leave the data in tact but do not allow XP to format the disk. You will still have to re-install all your programs though. My advice would be to back up all your data that you cannot afford to loose before proceeding as in my experience, it is better to be safe than sorry.
If you are intending using the XP disk from another Samsung machine you could find that it will not accept the Windows key.
If it were my machine I would back up first and the use the F4 option of full restore
