MemberGot my Sammy last week from some poor little rich kid for $250. He used it twice. I even got the receipt.
I just got done upgrading the memory to 2Gb. It definitely works better when you have lots of windows open on the browser. I also installed an Hitachi 500Gb travelstar 8meg buffer hard drive. Loaded it with Win7. This thing rocks now! Dump XP ASAP and get Win7. I recommend you download all the Win7 drivers and software updates from Samsung and put ’em on a flash drive first. First thing you do is update the bios before you do anything.

MemberHi – I decided today that I will buy a netbook and am thinking of getting this one.
I’ve been using a Mac G4 Powerbook for past 5 yrs and now the OS can’t run the latest browsers or take Flash 9. This is making life impossible.
A netbook would solve my immediate problems, offer a cheap Windows OS platform, be mega portable for work, and would allow me to postpone forking out for a 17 inch Mac (yes, ironically, I do really want a bigger screen – at home!)
Can you download Flash 9 to the N120 with only Win XP running?
When you buy the N120 – it doesn’t have Word or Excel on it, right?
Also, I read a review which said that Windows XP can’t be changed on the N120.
I am confused.
Do you have to take Windows XP off and then download Win 7 from MS site? Does Win 7 include Word and Excel?
How much does Win 7 cost?
With many thanks.

Member“In Vista, the amount of memory used increases linearly as you open more windows; in Windows 7, as long as you have a WDDM v1.1 driver, opening more windows uses much less additional memory.”
Does the N140 have this WDDM v1.1 driver, then?

Welcome to the forum KaksI understand that WDDM v1.1 is included in Win 7 so it follows that the new N140 models emerging now with Win 7 installed, will therefore have the driver.
Hope this helps

Dunno about flash on XP
No word or excel
You can’t “change” XP, you install Win7 and get rid of XP
Buy Win7, punt old OS and get rid of partitions
Win7 does not include MS office
An OEM version of Win7 is $100
A Home/Student copy of MS Office 2007 is $80November 18, 2009 at 7:42 pm #204408jesselt
