Hi,
After reading a post about the Samsung update manager, I uninstalled it as it seemed not necessary. I went to the website to do the updates and now have
‘igfxtray.exe’ loading everytime windows starts. Can anyone shed any light on what it is and how to stop it.
Thanks
Pete
Hi Pete and welcome to the forum 🙂
igfxtray.exe is the Intel Graphics Tray process. Most Intel motherboards with integrated video made after 1999 have this program as part of its “driver installation” package. This is what enables simple resolution changes (right click Desktop Graphics Modes 1024 x 600 @ 32bpp – 60 Hz etc).
The genuine version of this file is completely harmless, but it’s not necessary for video card function with an Intel motherboard. Each time you install updates for the graphics adapter, igfxtray.exe will be reinstalled and scheduled to start every time you turn on the computer.
I recommend you download, install, and run CCleaner. CCleaner will clean the c**p off your computer, fix any Registry issues, and allow you to control which programs and services start when your computer is powered up (Tools > Startup > highlight igfxtray.exe and click on the ‘Delete’ button).
