My new N110 will not boot past the welcome screen most of the time. At first, I would just ctrl alt delete restart it. But even that isn’t working most of the time. I figure I get one successful boot out of every 5.
What happens – > turn it on -> welcome screen -> select GORD
It goes to the background wallpaper, with no icons, no start menu ,etc. Occasionally the hourglass icon will show next to the curser. Then NADA.
I installed Open Office, Chrome & Avast right off the bat. I’m not sure if the problems started immediately after one of these. I removed McAfee (and used the MCPR tool) thinking that maybe it was in conflict with Avast. Nope. Still have the problem.
I tried starting up, hitting F8, then selecting Last Stable Windows configuration (or something to that effect) and that worked the one time I tried it.
So what gives? Any idea?
Thanks
Probably best to uninstall ,Chrome, Open office and Avast to get back to the base build. If that does not resolve the issue then use Samsung Recovery (F4 at boot) to restore back to factory installation.
I suspect there could well be a conflict between McAfee and Avast and Chrome will not have helped the problem
If you go for the F4 option back up any data you want to keep as it will be lost in the process
Edit
You could try Fn+F7 Samsung Magic Doctor. Try Diagnose Option first then if needed Restore the System
Tried the Magic Doctor. Nada.
Uninstalled Chrome. I got three successful startups in a row (so far). I suppose Google’s new browser was the issue.
Thanks!
Glad it seems all fixed now
I’m not sure that Chrome V2.0.172.33 is stable at the moment. On my machine it does not work unless a new tab is opened otherwise it just displays a blank screen, despite a couple of re-installations. :((
No problems here with this release of G Chrome…
