MemberHello there,
I have here such a problem, dont know if it happens to others but for me it seems little strange.
When I plug my usb dongle (for mobile internet from 3) and connect to the internet, mouse sometimes becomes so slow and it is almost impossible to work, I need to wait for some time before it stops lagging. Afterwards, when I open my FF and at the same time open 2 or more websites, it starts to lag again, most of the time it doesnt respond on clicks, as I need to click 2 or 3 times to activate a link or tab for example. This is very strange for me and the bad thing I can not test internet use through wifi, cause I don’t have one at home…
What’s more, I noticed (dont remember with usb dongle or without) when I change cpu performance from auto or minimum to max performance, same lag apears for some time. This may be ok, as processor gains performance, but still.
I tryed to watch system performance (with ctrl+alt+del) and it showed me ~20~30% cpu load and 340 mb of ram used. The mouse is Logitech laser wireless (with usb connector), but the problem isn’t in it, as I have been using it already for a year or more and even used with my old EEE 701 surf and there were no such lags. Batteries are fresh new Duracell.
I have N110, running Windows XP Home (preinstalled) with two partitions (one is main and other for restore) with 2GB of ram. USB dongle is Huawei E156G.
I din’t try to do such thing without that usb dongle, but sometimes I may encounter similar lags of mouse pointer and it really annows, cause it is not a pleasure to work while connected. What’s more, I noticed that when cpu speed is set to auto not max performance, the netbook works little smoother…
Also when starting my N110 and windows logo is loading, it lags much. The windows logo appears very very slowly for like 5-8 seconds, after it loads that logo, then everything is fine, the progress bar mooves smoothly.
Dunno, but may be it is a faulty cpu?

MemberIs it because you have automatic updates on? So when you connect to the internet the first thing your N110 does is check for Windows updates
and start downloading and installing them without asking?July 8, 2009 at 5:58 pm #195620snipe
MemberSorry, did not read properly 🙂
I have such a problem with my company dell laptop with a v450 nano mouse and wireless lan:
When I open firefox (or was it IE?!) when I have the favourites open, it lags totally while going through the favourites and ?checking for new icons? do not know what the browser is doing, but it refreshes the page icons like it seems…
In some cases, the wireless lan can interfere with the mouse frequency. Try a long cable and connect the mouse to that, see if it is better! (just for test)

MemberDo you get the same ‘lag’ if you use the trackpad? If not this will point the finger at the mouse not the N110. The right USB port supplies less power than the two on the left so put the mouse dongle in the left side whilst using the 3 modem.

MemberNo there are no updates turned on, so is windows firewall and the whole security center. I always switch off windows updates, cause they are not so necessary. Besides I tweaked my N110 for better loading time and battery life as How to tweak your NC10, faster boot up, faster shut down, longer battery life thread states, so when windows is loading up, only Samsung Battery Manager and Display manager are running. There may be more services, cause I had to leave them for dongle to work.
The strange thing for me is also when windows logo loads when netbook is switched on, as it lags at the begining, slowly showing that logo. Does any1 of you encounter this problem? My first idea was maybe graphics card drivers are old, but they are update as all drivers are (because i purchased not so recently, even bios was updated by Samsung).
Regarding mouse: i’ve got Logitech V450, just the difference is in mouse dongle, i’ve got a longer one, running at 2.4 ghz frequency.
After s162000 solution, I tryed to change the sides of dongles. Firstly, I left mouses dongle on the left and next to it connected broadband dongle, and guess what, it started so much to lag, i practically wasn’t been able to do something with my mouse (but with trackpad everything was ok). The next thing what I did, i changed mouse dongle to the right side and I think the problem is solved!! Now when loading more websites at the same time, pc lags but not the mouse 🙂
So it means that mouse dongle frequency interferes with Huawei E156G dongle when websites are loading and that’s why mouse lags.
Thank you all for suggestions and especialy big thanks to s162000 and snipe !
But one more thing lyes, regarding windows logo loading, do you encounter such a thing or it just smotthly loads without any lag?

MemberWhen I first got my N110. The XP loading logo would kind of stutter up for the first few seconds, and wasn’t smooth.
However I didn’t keep XP for long and dumped it for Windows 7, which doesn’t have the same sort of logo.July 9, 2009 at 6:11 pm #195615antispam246
MemberI have both XP (original installation) and Win 7 on a dual boot, I’ve never experienced the lag you’re referring to, even before I upgraded to 2GB ram.

MemberHm.. thanks for the news, I also thought that it is pretty strange..
The bad thing is that I don’t remember if it lagged before I tweaked for faster boot time, but i think there may be an issue…

We’ve got 2 NC10’s here and neither has exhibited your problem. Can I suggest you retrace your steps undoing the tweaks on a progressive basis until the offender has been isolated (if that proves to be the case)
Good luck….. -
