MemberHi, I attempted to send e-mails from my N110 for the first time this weekend. I can receive mail but sending gives me “Relay access denied”. I am running Thunderbird on Windows 7 Starter. I have checked the settings on Sammy and they are identical to those on my desktop and laptop, both of which work well.
What can be happening and can Win7S disable the mail send mode? Thanks for your help

MemberThank you _spc_ for your reply. The thread was too complex for me. I did, however, speak with a technician at my ISP who offered the thought that Win7 was not yet fully compatible with Thunderbird and, in order to make it work, I could “downgrade” to XP. Samsung are happy for me to do that and suggested all I have to do is to load XP from my Desktop Windows CD and all should be well!
Sounds all too good to be true. Is it? Can anyone shed light on a drawback?
Thanks
Ted

ParticipantWell if you load the copy of XP onto your netbook you would need a valid licence (key) which unless you have one space you would need to buy. Also if the XP disk came with the desktop computer it may be tied to it and so would not install on the netbook.
You can’t downgrade from Windows 7 to XP, instead you either dual boot or replace Windows 7 with XP. Either way you would need to set it up manually. Additionally I don’t think that the standard Windows XP disks come with the drivers needed to get the SATA hard drive to work (If it’s SP3 if might work).
Have you double checked that the SMTP settings in thunderbird are correct?
Tools -> Account Settings -> [account name] Server Settings -> Advanced -> SMTPI would try a different email client before trying a different OS.

MemberEggbox, Thunderbird works fine on my Win 7.
Check, double check and triple check your settings, something is most probably different to your other PC.
I had something similar with Outlook recently, on a desktop PC, sure enough it was something I missed, even after double checking.

MemberThank you Fanboi for your caution. I began to consider the wisdom of downgrading then tonyb came up with the wisdom of check and check. I retyped all the SMTP details and HEY PRESTO it now works. Thank you all for your thoughts and advice. Ted

MemberIt seems to be like your mail server id is creating problem……but you can also check the mailing option first.
