Hi All,
I hope I have put this in the right place……and there is someone out there that knows what to do.
first off, I got my N210 about 3 weeks ago, very very happy with it, probably one of the best things I have bought lately…..motorbike aside !!
anyways I activated the 60 day trial of MS office 2007.
however, my dad has just got a new laptop and given his old one to my son, on this laptop there is a FULL version of MS office 2007.
I do not have the discs for it, as my dad works away, and has not got a clue whathe done with the discs.
is it possible for me to remove MS office from my dads old laptop and install it onto my netbook.
I’m fairly sure you should be able to do this, after all, all I SHOULD need to do is find the product key, then update mine…..right ????….HOPEFULLY ??!!??
well thats my question, and my appologies if it is in the wrong section
Licences are generally none transferable so legally you cant do it…
As you say, you ‘should’ be able to do it. But as Trig points out, it is unlikely to be legal.
The Office might well have been pre-installed on the original laptop, like yours, and then been licenced for that PC, hence your dad not having any discs.
There are cheap ways to obtain Office legally, student licences etc. Or maybe you could try OpenOffice which is absolutely free 🙂
ok, thanks for the response guys.
guess I will have to dip my hand into my own pocket then…….grrrrrr !!!
unless I can get a copy from ebay…..might have to look into that option.
thanks once again guys
The office licence (check the EULA from any Help > About menu in an Office program) allows for an install of one copy on two separate devices, generally a desktop and a portable (laptop) device.
I have purchased one copy of Office that I run legitimately on two machines…
