MemberI’m guessing it’s because he wants to get rid of the taskbar completely?

Memberexactly:) haven been using rocketdock for 2 months and love it and wanna remove the taskbar and have a shortcut to the start menu in rocketdock!

MemberGuess I’m just a sucker for familiarity, but I tried Rocket Dock for a few weeks and found I needed my taskbar and start menu back. So uninstalled it.

MemberWell – what you do is go and get Objectdock. The free version of Objectdock has support for one dock (like Rocketdock) – but getting this – you can get a dock that only has one entry (the start menu button) – make the background transparent and change the positition to where you want it. You can still use Rocketdock so you have your applications dock. I have the full version of Objectdock but I only use one dock at the moment but it’s pretty easy to set up multiple docks if you want to.
In Objectdock you can also choose to hide the taskbar completely, in Windows you can set it to “auto-hide” but there is still a 1-2 pixel high line that you can see – which “ain’t that pretty”.
Another option is to add “Start menu” docklet for your Rocketdock, this docklet can however only simulate you pressing the start button so the start menu comes up where it usually is – only Objectdock can get you the start menu where you press it (as far as I know…)
My desktop doesn’t look like previous image but like this:
And if you want to you can make it look like this with the start menu at the bottom left (or anywhere you like), you can also put it in the existing dock at the top.

Memberexcellent gonna give it a go now
Another question was is it possible to add a shortcut to the volume or speaker icon to the desktop/rocketdock ?
March 17, 2009 at 10:19 pm #186822Freddy
MemberThis is possible yes – if you go to wincustomize.com or deviantart.com I think I’ve seen somewhere on one of these pages a docklet for rocketdock that links to speaker/volume.
What you also can do (if you get the full version of Objectdock) is to show tray icons/system tray like Wireless, speaker etc. in a dock. This is not possible in the free version though.

MemberI’ve tested the Start-button with both the Objectdock free and Objectdock Pro and I’ve not come across this problem. Try uninstalling – install again and be sure to reboot after install.
