MemberApologies if covered before- seem to have disabled BT somehow, and now can’t get it working again! BT is ticked to start OK in msconfig, but there is no BT devices in Control Panel, the System Tray icon is red and all I seem to get is Device not found or Device not connected. User-error of course, but what am I not doing? Help much appreciated- thanks!

MemberWelcome to the forum, rsumner 🙂
If you right click on the red BT icon in the System Tray, do you have the option to ‘Start the Bluetooth Device’ 😕

MemberHi- if I right-click, all I have available is “Bluetooth Configuration” and “BT device not found”. The other options (Explore BT places/Add a BT device/Quick connect) are greyed out

MemberOK. You need to run two different programs to reactivate BT:
*Start > Run >
*Enter this command: C:Program FilesWIDCOMMBluetooth Softwarebinbtwdins.exe and click on the ‘OK’ button
*Wait for a couple of minutes
**Start > Run >
*Enter this command: C:Program FilesWIDCOMMBluetooth SoftwareBTTray.exe and click on the ‘OK’ button
August 2, 2009 at 2:55 pm #197616rsumner
MemberHallo- many thanks for this- done it exactly as described, but still no joy- exactly as before. Restarted machine too, but no difference.

MemberThanks again- installed most recent driver- and guess what- no change! Is it something blindingly obvious which I’m missing I wonder?

MemberI had this problem a while back. I tried updating all the drivers and making sure bluetooth service was set to run via the services.cmd function. All to no avail – in the end I had to restore using the Samsung restore feature.

MemberThanks for the info- may I ask- how do I do this?
August 3, 2009 at 11:18 am #197608TCMuffin
MemberAssuming you still have the recovery partition, if you press the ‘F4’ key as your Sammy boots you will enter the recovery process which will return your NC10 to the same state as it was when you first had it.
Warning You will lose all your data, settings, and any programs you’ve installed, so backup anything you want to keep.

Do you still have the Windows XP installation disk which came with your NC10?

MemberWow- drastic solution in the sense that not only all installed programs, but also windows/ virus/ malware updates will have to be replaced. I did read somewhere I think that XP Service Pack 2 caused some BT problems- anyone else know about this?

Not that I know of…..and anyway Sammys come with XP Service Pack 3 installed…..so any problem with SP2 would have been resolved 😕 -
