MemberMcAfee seem to have had more than their fair share of ‘upsets’. To me, they belong in the same box as Norton and AOL. Many people seem happy with these products but I try to steer well clear.
Who is going to tell Jez? I think he has said he is using the free McAfee until it expires.

MemberAlthough I had some problems in the last months, I still run AVG free, it is definitely the fastest scanner, and it seems that they could fix the problems…

MemberAlthough it may seem a good idea to keep it til the license expires it can do more harm to your system and break it to pieces.
Take it off and stick Avast or if you don’t mind paying not too much, Nod32 is great and doesnt take up many resources.

MemberI used to use AVG, I had done for years. I installed Avast on my NC10 after reading reviews that it uses less of the system resources. it seems to work fine, I have had no problems so far.

MemberI use Avira AntiVir Free and Comodo Firewall, both produce a quite a small workload. Worst of the “good” anti virus programs I’ve had so far is F-Secure which we deploy at work (not my choice). This can hog even your average office workstation.

MemberEven worse than F-Secure is Norton.

I’ve got Norton on my main quad core vista pc and have to say it runs surprisingly well and I have had no problems with it. It would not have been my first choice but the machine came with a years subscription and I have found no reason to change it as yet.I remember well all the problems it used to cause a few years back and I avoided it like the plague but they seem to have listened and improved it, and as I say, this has surprised me somewhat.
I wouldn’t recommend putting it on a sammy though!! 🙂

MemberHi Everyone,
Has anyone here used Clam AV? This is an opensource AV product and seems to be used by many LAMP hosted servers on Linux but I was wondering if the Windows version was any good?
