MemberGot a NC10 a few weeks back and everything was working fine for about a a week.
I noticed the other day I no longer had sound. When I go to windows volume control it says “There are no active mixer devices available.” Samsung EDS starts up but is basically blank and I can not select any of the buttons.
Steps taken to fix:
-Updated bios to latest
-Uninstalled and reinstalled EDS
-Uninstalled EDS and realtek drivers and reinstalled latest realtek drivers without EDS
-Used Samsung Recovery Solution III to restore back to 1st day image when I got computer(sound definately worked then)No sound after any of the steps. Can anyone think of something I might be missing?
Regards, Mike

MemberIt could be a hardware failure. Try taking the PC to the dealer you got it from. If you bought it online, try Samsung support.

MemberI have the same problem for a few weeks and purchased it online several weeks back. Not knowing the source of trouble only way I resolve it was reboot the computer but most of time I don’t want to. govtek99, did you fix the sound problem? Could you share what you did? Thanks.

MemberDoes the Device Manager show any problems? (Win+R, type “devmgmt.msc”, Enter)
Is there anything listed in the device dropdowns in the Audio tab of the Sounds and Audio Devices Control Panel?
(I’d lean more towards a hardware problem as well, but these are some places to look for more info.)

MemberExact same problem here. I’ll post if I get it fixed. Windows still recognizes the realtek chipset btw.

MemberI just reinstalled windows xp, after backing up the sound driver. The realtek hd sound worked as plug n play, but samsung eds came along with installing the samsung website supplied driver. Now I need to get the wifi working.

MemberHelp, I’ve had my lovely pink NC10 for about 11months and a few days ago… the sound/ speakers stopped working. Same issues as you all. Can you post some step by step instructions? (I’m not a computer natural!!)

ParticipantMissSpanglyPink – Welcome to the forum
First off check that the volume has not been accidentally muted. I know that seems obvious but double click the speaker icon in the tray and check the mixer mute boxes.
Try re-installing the Sound (Audio) driver.
It can be found here under the driver tab. Choose the XP version if you are running XP.Click on the file description for installation instructions, viz:
1. Click the attached file and press ”Save” button.
Then press ”Browse…” button and select the place where you want to save the selected file.
2. After downloading the file, find the downloaded file and right_click on the file.
On pop_up menu, select ”Extract All…” option.
3. On ”Extraction Wizard”, press ”Next” button and press ”Browse…” button.
Select a folder to extract file and press ”Next” again.
4. After the file has been sucessfully extracted, see the extracted files.
Run ”Setup.exe” file or ”setup.exe” file in the folder.Hope this helps
