For some mysterious reason, I have lost my sound. I cannot get sound either through the speakers or the headphones. I went to the Sam. website and downloaded the realtek driver but….that didn’t help.

When I shut down the computer….the little MS shutdown song plays. However, I don’t hear it at start up nor can I get any of the online videos, etc to have sound.

Explorer 8 was installed…but I don’t know if that is the problem.

Does anybody have a suggestion? I have checked all the settings and even tried a “System Restore”.

Err, here’s one to check. Go into the control panel and then into Realtek HD Sound Effect Manager and check that ‘Karaoke’ is not checked.

I tried that but no luck. I am puzzled.

Now the shut down tones don’t even play. I am thinking that there is some setting I haven’t found?

I know it’s a silly question, but you haven’t muted or turned the volume down to 0?

Also check that the WAVE slider in the mixer is not right down.

i updated my bios. that solve the problem on another notebook.
