I’m not certain if I’ve just turned the keyboard on to some weird setting or if the hardware is broken but my left hand shift, backspace and escape buttons aren’t working. They click down perfectly and the buttons around them work fine.
Help!
Welcome Tegid,
Oh. I can’t imagine any weird setting disabling those keys, or any other for that matter. It may be a loose connection to the keyboard causing it.
It could be a do it yourself fix, if you are handy with a screwdriver (and are not worried about warranty), or time to give Samsung Support a call.
Tegid, welcome to the site. Try a blast of “canned air” (sold in computer stores) in case there are some minute pieces of whatever preventing complete contact. If it works, then you don’t have to get into removing the keyboard. Good luck.

In addition to the good recommendations you have received in the postings above it may be worth trying to re-add the UK Keyboard via Regional Settings. It’s an outside chance that the driver has become corrupted although it does sound like a hardware problem.
If you opt not to go down the Samsung warranty route then users have reported on the forum that a complete keyboard can be bought for about £15. Replacement is quite straight forward and this post gives good details on the procedures.
[NC10]How to remove the keyboard (not 56k friendly)
Hope this helps
Thanks very much!
I’ll take it into the techies down the road tomorrow to get it “can-aired” failing that I’ll get the screwdriver out.
Just in case, how would I re-boot the UK regional keyboard driver?
Thanks again,
Teg
