I am contemplating trading in my beloved but gas guzzling 2005 Kia Amanti for a car that gets better gas mileage. My sense when the Toyota Prius came out was that it was overpriced for unproven technology. They are now coming out with Pruis II, Ford has the fusion, and Honda has their version. There also is the hybrid version of the Toyota Camry, Any thoughts, experiences and helpful web page recommendations would be appreciated.

I read a review of the Prius II on the weekend and the reviewer was impressed:
“this car is a real step forward from the old, and will doubtless maintain the Prius’s exceptional reputation for reliability, a real achievement from a car this complex.
Toyota hopes this more civilised Prius will reach a wider audience than its predecessor – it deserves to.”
I hope that helps, but speaking personally, wild horses wouldn’t make me give up our 300 bhp Volvo estate and 240 bhp Volvo convertible both of which struggle to do more than 25 mpg. My partner and I are both petrol heads and the bottom line is that we accept that we have to pay dearly for our pleasure 🙁
