Needless
MemberFor those interested (and please spare us the “a netbook should never be OCed” blabla etc):
Follow the instructions given on that page:
http://myhpmini.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=2445&start=72Except: replace 3651 with N510
and there you go 🙂

MemberWelcome Needless,
Nice link. OCing isn’t for everyone, as you already point out the neg side that you have encountered. 😛
It looks as if a few people have had some good results judging by posts on that forum. Are you one of those who have tried it?

MemberI believe I must have been one of the very first to try this on a n510 actually, as I figured out the n510 tweak by myself 🙂
My (French – i.e. n270) n510 is completely stable up to fsb 163mhz (=cpu 1,954ghz). Higher clocks (up to 2,050ghz) are stable under windows, but always end up crashing in games.
I’m not sure which from the cpu or the memory is what prevents higher OC.

MemberQuality – thanks for this, been looking into overclocking mine for a while now
Will give it a go when I get a mo, and compare some 3dmark results (already have stock ones) – Thank added 🙂

Membernice! Thanks for the info, looking forward to trying it myself since the N510 seems to run rather cool.

031109 – 3636

041109 – 1317
051209 – 1509 – overclock to 195 + avast/netmeter disabledI’ve not tried any other settings as this is pretty impressive stuff 🙂

MemberHello fingerman,
How can you reach a 190 or 195 fsb?? (or do these number not refer to the fsb?)
stock 3Dmark03: 3465
after OC: 4118tempering with RAM timings in nvidia tools has proved useless in both directions: does not bring real perf gain when timings improved / does not allow for more OC when timings slowed down…maybe an nvidia issue?

MemberHi, sorry I was changing the CPU Frequency in the Overclocking tab – I got to 195 but only ran 3DMark 2001 – will try and go higher and run more tests
This is a great improvement and will play more later on – thanks 🙂

MemberI can’t seem to reach 165 without having Windows crashing after a short while, are you guys using the stock 1gb ram stick?
December 6, 2009 at 11:25 am #206875Needless
Memberfsb163 is the max I can reach with the stock stick. Not sure how fingerman reached 195!

Memberahhh..on a n280! That makes sense. I guess it shows that the CPU is the limit, not the RAM. Surprising! As HPmini users seem to face a RAM limitation.

MemberYep – I’ve had a read through the thread, interesting read.
My ram’s at 800Mhz and when I upped it to 205 strange things started happening to put back to 200
Might have a look at overclocking the nVidia next
