MemberI don’t feel comfortable buying a netbook without getting my hands on it first. At this point I’ve been gravitating towards the Wind U100 because I’ve been able to use it and it fits well for my needs. The one area that I’d like more is battery life. I’ve considered the Asus 1000HE but the styling looks horrible to me and it weights the most of the bunch. The NC10 is nice enough looking for me and only slightly more weight than the Wind, not enough to care about, while also offering the extra 1-2 hours battery life I’m looking for.
So looking around it sounds like Costco does have them, but the closest Costco to me is a good 40 minutes away. Also I’m not sure that they will have it out on display or anything for me to get a feel for. I’m not a member of Costco currently either and last time I went there they gave me a whole lot of grief.
So I checked BJ’s (which I am a member) but they didn’t have it. Than I checked Sam’s Club and they have all three colors listed on there website. So I’m wondering if anyone knows do they stock them in the store and do they have them on display so I could get my hands on it before deciding what to get.
Thanks.

MemberWelcome to the forum, jayg30 🙂
I’d be inclined to ring Sam’s Club and ask what stock it carries.

MemberI concur – giving Sam’s Club a call is probably the most straightforward option that will give you the most correct info you can get.
But believe me – you don’t have to look at the Sammy – it is still the best netbook out there. It is stylish, good keyboard, fast, long battery life etcetera etcetera etcetera – I could go on and on. 🙂
It doesn’t look cheapo, it doesn’t feel cheapo – so it doesn’t just have the best features – it really is ALL that 😉

MemberYeah I think it depends. What city are you asking from?

MemberI went today to both Sam’s Club and Costco. Sam’s Club pointed out to me that on there site, if you click the delivery button, it shows that it is not carried in store so can’t see it there. Than took the drive to Costco to give them a look. They did not have it out on display, so I took a look for myself around the shelves. I did not see it anywhere, only the HP mini and Acer One. Went and asked them if they had it and they said they did not. This is in southern NJ. Only other option I can think of is maybe try a store in Delaware which isn’t to far. Everything else would be to far for me to consider making the trip for.
This is frustrating I must say. Samsung is a large manufacturer and you would expect them to sell these at a place like Best Buy (considering they’ve effectively become the only game in town). I just do not feel comfortable buying without getting my hands on it first because my preferences tend to differ from others pretty vastly. Like I use the left shift key only and could care less about the right shift (left handed). The HP mini keyboard that was praised as being one of the best keyboards was horrible for me and I couldn’t type more than 45wpm compared to 65-70wpm on the Wind. Not sure if it was the flat keys or how wide they are. Almost bought a mini 9 when it was released and thank goodness I didn’t. Lots of great reviews but when I tried it I couldn’t type on it and hated the machine. Same thing goes for chiclet keys like on a Mac or Sony, can’t stand them. Than there is styling. Pictures just aren’t the same as seeing how these machines look in person. Than there is the screen quality and brightness. I compared the HP and the Wind side by side and, to me the Wind screen was much better quality and most importantly at 50% brightness (which lots of battery tests are done at) was a LOT brighter than the HP at 50%.
If I don’t see this thing in person it is really hard for me to feel comfortable dropping close to $400 on a machine that I already feel is overly priced for what they offer. Sure I could take peoples opinions on things but the fact is that if I ask here I’ll get bias comments in one direction and if I ask somewhere else I’ll get biased opinions in the other direction. The review sites are helpful, but there are some things they don’t look for or comment on that I’d like to see personally and I doubt I’d be able to get them to respond to me. lol

MemberI was also somewhat uncomfortable spending $450 without ever seeing one in person, but you won’t be disappointed if you get one. It is sturdy, looks good, and doesn’t feel or look cheap. There is a place in New York City that has the NC10 plus most of the others on display if you live anywhere near there.
