MemberHiya
Just got back from Reading festival and after not having a PC all weekend have been using it all evening. Just came to charge it up and it won’t. Any idea on what may have happened? I am not on 10% power and no way to charge it or run it off the mains! It will soon be a brick 🙁
Hope someone has an answer for me and I am worried!
Thanks in advance

MemberDom01, is your mains adaptor bad? You should be able to pop out the battery and just run your Sammy off your mains.

MemberThe power brick is giving power, I take it? The first thing to do would be to check that power is actually going in i.e. check the fuse in the mains plug. Secondly, if it is, then check to see that 19v or so is coming out.
Of course check the cables for damage.

Is it not still covered by warranty 😕In which case, call Samsung Customer Services for help.

MemberHi Thanks for the quick replies! The batery is working tho it is on 8% now and I am saving it in case I need to copy any files over for a return! I got it last November so I assume it is still covered but would rather not have to exchange it tbh! If I take teh batery out then it does ot work off the mains! No power is going in at all 🙁

MemberI would be inclined to have it sorted now, whilst it is still under warranty.

Well I didn’t laugh (much) but fuses normally blow for a reason …..?I wouldn’t leave the charger unattended and it may be wise to report it to Samsung as a warranty issue for safety reasons as there could well be a fault in the charger.

MemberThats a good idea I will let them know so they can keep a record of it. TBH the electrics in my house are rubbish! SO the fuse going is not that surprising (we go through bulbs at a hell of a rate). It is kind of weird as hte charger was plugged in but the netbook was not connected while I was away. Maybe something tripped and house mate sorted it out. I am just glad Sammy is fine as my PC has just had all its USB ports die. I am having a really bad time of it atm lol

ParticipantIf the charger was left plugged in and the plug top fuse went that that points to a faulty charger/lead. I would ask Samsung to replace it under warranty to be on the safe side 🙂

MemberSo my answer, posted just 32 mins after you reported the problem here, was correct

Membertime out tonytb, I think I beat you by a minute! Seriously, what is this plug top fuse you all are talking about? I pulled out my charging brick and I don’t see any fuse in the brick nor the plug that goes into the wall outlet/mains. Is this something indigenous to the UK, Europe, gees, maybe the rest of the world? Thanks. Hey, I just came up with a solution tonytb, we’ll share the thanks and applause!!

In the UK the plug contains a fuse.Quote:The plug has a fuse inside. The fuse is required to protect the cord, as British wiring standards allow very high-current ring main circuits to the socket. On the picture on that wikipedia page you can see the cover where the fuse is located in-between the three prongs.

Participantdockehr – We in the UK have ‘quaint’ 13Amp plugs with a fuse carrier built in.
On the picture there is a flip out section between the pins which holds the fuse. 🙂September 1, 2009 at 6:12 pm #199511Alfihar
ParticipantHere have a photo of the plug with the fuse cover removed, in this case it’s a 3A fuse.
