MemberHi,
I’ve seen a few items on here about screen flickering on the NC10. On mine, it seems to do it most when “hotter” and probably with the screen brightness up (i.e. on charge). Seems to make no difference if it is in Windows or Linux.
Also, the problem seems “worse” if you type or move your finger around on the trackpad which sort of suggests it is some sort of mechanical problem with a cable or similar somewhere.
Does this sound the same as what other users are suffering?
I had my screen replaced by Samsung just inside of the warranty period after reporting the white screen of death & this problem at the same time. I’m now out of warranty but don’t think they fixed this flickering / ghosting issue when the screen was replaced 3 months ago. Do I stand much chance of getting Samsung to sort this out free of charge?
Also, if a lot of users experience this fault, is it an inherent design fault of the NC10 ?
Cheers,

MemberThe clue here might be the “i.e. on charge”.
The next time this happens (and assuming the battery has a reasonable charge), leave the NC10 running and unplug the power supply, then set the brightness to a high level if it defaults to dim on battery.
If the flickering persists, the fault is with the NC10 itself, but if it disappears, the problem is caused by the power supply, indicating that ripple, or mains hum is present on the output. This could explain why you think the flickering is worse when you have your hand near the keyboard or touchpad. The effect is similar to placing your finger on the input of an amplifier causing audio hum to come from the speaker, but in this case the proximity of the finger might cause the video flickering to appear worse.
If the test indicates that the power supply is causing the problem, a replacement should solve the problem.

MemberGood call. I waited until the sammy started to play up while charging then unplugged it and everything seemed to sort itself out.
I then used a charger from another Samsung laptop (same voltage etc) and run with that for a while….no problems of flickering at any time.
Looks like the charger may be at fault. Is this a common problem?
Also, any recommendations on where to get one or can i just buy a universal charger?

MemberHi Dnk,
Glad you found your culprit!
I don’t know if the Samsung charger is prone to problems, but like any piece of electronic equipment, a failure can occur at any time.
Other forum members may be able to advise you on sources of a replacement, but failing that, a ‘compatible’ , or universal type would be fine.
Make sure the charger you buy is the correct voltage and has a current rating (Ah) of at least the same as the Samsung unit. The current rating can be higher, as the NC10 will only draw what it needs, but the voltage is very important and should the same as stated on the NC10 charger, definitely no higher.
Also make sure the unit you choose is advertised as compatible with the NC10, there is a large variety of different connectors around, so even if the rest of the specification is OK, if the connector is wrong you are snookered!
