Hi, just bought an external DVD rewriter, second hand with no docs, just the rewriter and cables. i wanted it to rip movies onto my NC10 and as an easier software install method etc. had a problem with the NC10 and installed XP with the recovery disc via USB. now i’m trying to install the samsung software, and it will recognise that there is a disc on there but not let me access it. It also won’t let me boot from disc, as i am trying to install windows 7 but it won’t even recognise that i’m trying it just takes me straight to XP (i have the boot order set as CD first and HDD last and it still wont) the thing is that it recognises audio cds and lets me play them. any help? it would be greatly appreciated!

Wait so did you manage to successfully use that external usb optical drive to boot from the Windows XP disk and install XP?
