MemberOkay guys, I’m having a problem and it’s getting frustrating. I recently bought a 25 inch LCD monitor, and I’ve spent some time switching between my wii and N210; well, I’m sure you all know that swapping VGA cables gets old fast, so I bought this lovely product.
http://www.mayflash.com/vgabox/vga002/vga002.htmI connected it to my wii and laptop, and tried it out. Wii displayed wonderfully with no issues, and, flipping the switch, my laptop didn’t display at all. I’ve tried swapping the plugs (i.e. plugging in through the “GAME” VGA input, the one that functioned with my wii), to no avail. I hoped that the cable they sent me was faulty, but the laptop displayed just fine using only their cable but not their switchbox.
I’ve noticed that the power indicator LED on the monitor turns yellow when it isn’t receiving a signal and green when it is. When my laptop is connected through the switchbox, the LED turns green, but the screen is still blank.
I know that probably nobody here has used this switchbox, but I know that many of you have used the N210, and I’ve deduced that the problem must be on the computer side, so I’m wondering: has anyone had an issue connecting to an external display with any of these laptops? And if so, how did you remedy it?
Thanks guys 🙂

MemberThis is strange: when I have said monitor connected to the laptop via switchbox, I can’t even pull up the monitor’s built-in menu.

MemberAre you able to try any other laptops/netbooks?
Have you tried changing external monitor output resolution?

MemberI don’t have any other computers to try at the moment, just the N210 and the wii. I’ve fiddled with the resolution and refresh rate settings, (The former of which made no difference, and the latter gave only one choice, 60 hz).
There’s a computer place across the street; I think I may take a stroll over there with my laptop and switch box in the morning, and ask to borrow a monitor or a PC for troubleshooting.

MemberOkay, apparently when I reduced the resolution last night, I didn’t reduce it quite far enough (I chose what I though were resonable settings, but alas, they were not, I suppose). A trip to the computer store showed that it did indeed work with one of his laptop/monitor combos, and when I reduce the resolution below 1024 in extended desktop mode, or all the way to 600 in duplicate desktop, it functions. However, i still cannot get a picture using only the external monitor. The joint conclusion between myself and the proprietor of the computer store? The box simply cannot handle the signal required. Which also leaves me doubting it could handle the Xbox 360 signa its supposedly designed for.
