Hi Guys,
I hope I’m in the right place for this question. I’m a newbee. I want to connect my wired desktop PC which has internet, to my new wireless Samsung N120. I currently have satelite internet which is connected to my pc with an Ubiquiti carrier PoE adapter. My ISP said I have wireless internet that’s broadband. Should I purchase an access point router like Netgear WPN824? Would this make my new N120 wireless netbook access the internet? I’m just looking for mobility within my home. Thanks so much for any info you can share. Thanks, Ty
I don’t know anything much about satellite internet, but have a look on the little box/router/modem that connects to your pc from the satellite, and see if there’s any reference numbers etc.
Also, have a look at the cable that goes from the box/router/modem to your pc. Does it look like:
Ty,
The Ubiquiti website shows an AP-1000 “box” which connects to your satellite antenna cable and then can send the wifi signal via ethernet cable to your PC or wirelessly, if necessary. Do you indeed have such an AP similar to the Ubiquiti AP-1000? If so, you should be good to go by “enabling” wireless connectivity on your netbook.
Hopefully, someone else will jump in to help you as I’m out the door for high desert quail hunting here in Globe, Arizona and will be gone the rest of the day.

Thanks so much. This sounds like what I need. Thanks for all the info. I’ll let you know how this turns out.
