MemberHello all,
This is just a question is windows aero in win7 not good for netbooks. I have had my n210 for about a month now and the the display will shut down when the computer goes to sleep or when I shut the lid. Is it because window areo is to hard to run on the graphics card. I have turned most of the features that will cause to big of a strain on the system, but every know and then the display will stop working for a split sec. I might be worrying for nothing, but I thought that I would ask to see if anyone else is having this problem.

ParticipantThe display should shut down if you sleep the computer or shut the lid.
When the display stops working for a split second do you get a driver error popup?
I seem to get this if I have the taskbar set to autohide.March 29, 2010 at 1:21 pm #212080ironheadb3
MemberRAF did that stop when you took the auto hide off. The reason that I ask is because I have the auto hide set on hide as well. I will try turning that off and see if it happens again. Thanks for the quick response.

ParticipantYes it stops when I turn off the auto-hide, I set the taskbar to be small instead and it hasn’t happened since. I would disable the auto hide and see whether it still crashes.
Though do you get the message popping up, saying that the graphics driver has crashed?

MemberRAF I did as you said and did some tests and it has not crashed since. do you think that the graphics card cannot handle the taskbar doing the auto hide. I also did what you said about making the icons smaller on the taskbar it has helped a lot thanks for the help

Participantno it’s a bug in the drivers, well it might be performance related as well.
Supposedly whats happening is that the graphics card is taking too long to wake and so Windows assumes that it’s crashed and so reloads the driver. Though it’s been a while since I last looked into the issue.
The graphics card itself should be more than capable of handling something like auto hiding the taskbar.

Participantironheadb3 – Have you checked you have the latest graphics driver installed? If so it might be worth trying the previous version.
Hope this helps

MemberJeepers I did as RAF said and all is working now. I did roll back the drivers before and it did the same thing. Then I updated the drivers and the same thing was happening so RAF was right about the issue, and thanks for the help you guys. I look forward to talking to you guys in later posts thanks again for all the help.
