MemberHi,
where do I find that have the newest chipset driver in my NC20?
I can’t find it in device manager :/September 18, 2009 at 3:04 pm #201370cavgirl
MemberCan’t help there….try System Information, perhaps?
Start-> Accessories->System Tools-> System Information.
If you have Vista or 7 just put it in the search box.Does anyone know if I need to DL a chipset driver if I’m running the defaults from 7, and what improvement will I see if I do?

ParticipantOn my NC10 DriverMax lists out the chipset drivers and then searches and offers updates and versions that are available for download.
This would do the same on the N120, so may be of help

MemberWell, first I have xphome on the nc20.
Uninstalled Samsung Update Plus soon after I I’ve got nc20.
Prefer manual driver updating.
DriverMax? Is it Samsung software?I can’t find VIA chipset driver ver.3.0.0.0 in System Information/ System Drivers.
Where is a chipset driver? Please help:)

MemberHello lisek, the chipset was made by VIA. Hence, the best place to find an updated driver is at http://www.viaarena.com/Driver/VIA_HyperionPro_V524A.zip (download, unzip and install). I’m not sure whether it will improve your NC20’s overall performance, but I upgraded mine with this driver package and I’m still alive, so …
Enjoy !

It is not Samsung software, you can download it here it is free.September 18, 2009 at 6:44 pm #201372lisek
MemberQuote:I’m still alive, so …I believe but…
first, I need to know what chipset driver I have – can you help me how check it up? – in winxp not via extra software.
second, if I know I will download the driver from samsung.com or viaarena.com [give the link to the page with description of chipset driver, not to the driver file directly please, I would like to know what I test;)]thanks in advance

MemberIts is not “VIA extra software”, it’s the complete VIA driver pack that will only update the drivers it will find in your PC. There’s no spyware, no trap and, again, VIA is the original manufacturer of the NC20’s VX800 chipset.
Regarding the link to the driver page, here it is: http://www.viaarena.com/ViaDisplayDrivers.aspx?Drivers.aspx?PageID=&OSID=1&CatID=1070
Hope this helps.

Memberplevi
sorry, it’s a misunderstanding, because of my poor english:)
Again, my question: where can I find the chipset driver that is installed in my xphome? I don’t want to use exstra sofware for this like DriverMax [that jeeper mentioned].
I wrote: “not via extra software” but “via” for me is not VIA – company.
I mean “not by means of extra software” ok?
Sorry again.September 18, 2009 at 11:36 pm #201361jeepers01
Participantlisek – I do not have an NC20 but as far as I know XP does not directly report the current chipset driver information other than is contained in Device Manager > System devices.
Therefore using a software utility package such as DriverMax will obtain the chipset driver installed and offer the latest update available if there is one. This is a free, quick and simple process.
You can use DriverMax to identify your current driver and then you could install the driver that plevi suggested if you wished.
I hope this helps clarify your question.

Memberthanks jeepers01,
understood. My problem is, I don’t know where is the chipset driver exactly in DeviceManager/SystemDevices.
That’s funny because I’ve installed VIA chipset driver ver. 3.0.0.0 from samsung.com, but I can not find it in DeviceManager/SystemDevices. I see mostly Microsoft drivers.I can see VIA drivers:
VIA MSP DRAM Contoller
VIA MSP Miscellaneous Bus
VIA MSP Module Bus
VIA MSP PCI Express Root Port [x2]
VIA MSP Power Management Controller
VIA MSP Scratch Device
VIA MSP Standard Host Bridge [x4]All these VIA drivers have number 6.0.0.300 dated 2007.06.21
Does it mean I have the newest VIA chipset drivers ver.3.0.0.0 now?

MemberAlthough you need to manually download from VIA’s site, the latest (& greatest, IMHO) chipset and video drivers for the VX800 and the Chrome9 that your NC20 employed are posted at http://www.viaarena.com, as Plevi mentioned above. I am using both in my NC20, and they are running fine.

MemberThanks for the link… I’ll try the VIA Hyperion Pro 5.24A driver package tomorrow and see what is being updates as opposed to the drivers Samsung places on their website… Made a good backup recently anyway. 🙂

Memberthank you all.
hjsnc20,
there are some threads on this forum about the freezing nc20 caused by latest video drivers ver.6.14.10.213 from samsung.com [& the scrolling in FF]
As others I rolled back to previous ver.6.14.10.182 in Device Manager to fix the problem.
So you are using the latest video drivers from VIA’s site and they are other than the latest ver.6.14.10.213 from samsung.com?
And no problems with the freezing? -
