I have acronis 10 set up on my NC10 under XP Home, and I can happily backup from the NC10 to an external drive attached to my desktop.
Problem comes when I try to restore the same way – i.e. via windows.
I set up the restore information by linking to the desktop external HDD, choose the tib backup, and then the NC10 re-boots to run acronis. It starts acronis, but then it seems to fail to find the network, and just restarts the netbook.
I have a Toshiba NB100, and it works with no problems.
Any suggestions?
You will probably need to plug the drive with the backup data directly into the NC10 via USB, rather than trying to get it to work over the network.
Yes, I have tried that, and it works fine.
Is the network access a problem specific to the NC10.
Not sure about 10 but on 11 backup/restore via network works perfectly.
Could well be an issue with Acronis 10 not having the correct network drivers then.

I think that’s the case.
Thanks for the information. Looks like an upgrade of Acronis is required, but I’ll wait for the Windows 7 version to become available.
rannoch, I am continually moving files between my NC10 and three other laptops and the backup drive, wirelessly, with no issues. In fact two laptops are Vista and the other two XP.
Concur with Alfihar.

Your choice but running Acronis over a network seems an awful slow way of doing backups. If you have a USB external drive why not just plug it into directly into the Sammy, probably 10x faster.
