MemberHi all,
I recently purchased an NC10. Until yesterday I could access the internet via the wireless device we have however halfway through the internet session it lost connection and I have not been able to connect since. When I try to connect to the network it states that it is trying to aquire a network address. I have selected the repair function and this does not work, as it states that it is trying to re-new the IP address but to no avail. Can anyone help?

MemberThanks for the threads Jeepers. Unfortunately I’m still having no joy. I tried disconnecting the link and then reconnecting, entering the network key but to no avail. With regards to pinging my IP address im not sure what this is. How can i find this out? Also when I try to run ipconfig /all, the black window flashes up for a moment but then disappears. Thanks in adavnce for any further suggestions.

Memberchames24, first off, welcome to the forum. A couple of suggestions: try restoring your Sammy to a time period prior to your Internet session using “System Restore”; if none of the suggestions recommended in the threads jeepers01 mentioned work, consider trying to access the Internet in another location. This could pinpoint the problem to either the Sammy or the router and/or modem. Good luck.

Participantchames24 – Try Start > Run > cmd > ipconfig /all
In the output look for the Wireless LAN Adapter section where you will see Atheros AR5007EGIP address (which has been assigned by the router) will be similar to 192.168.0.3 and this is the IP address assigned to your sammy.
The Default Gateway 192.168.0.1 is the router IP address
This is the address to ping to see if you are communicating with the router.
You can also enter that address directly into your browser to access the router to check the settings. Then try and ping the DNS Server IP address which proves communication with the internet.
Likewise you can ping http://www.google.comYou could post a copy of the ipconfig /all output if you are unsure and we will have a look.
This is the output from my machine ……….
Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter

DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 195.184.228.6
NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : EnabledAnother thing to try is to ensure that the router is working – Connect another device to it or check the sammy works with a network cable connection to the router. If so the problem is isolated to the wireless connection.
Hope this helps

MemberHi there,
Have tried eveything and still no joy. Tried to access on another wireless connection at work and it was fine, did a system restore, still no joy, have pinged the IP address and it worked, same with the default but no result. Even went to the Samsung website, downloaded the latest driver. This didn’t work so rolled back to the old one, tried again and didn’t work. Thanks for your help guys and if you have any further suggestions all help would be appreciated. Cheers.

ParticipantIt seems to point to the router being the problem. Have you another wireless laptop/device to see if they work with it?
Have you tried a network cable connection between the sammy and your router?
Check the router to ensure it has a working connection to the internet
Check the router settings – check that DHCP server is On.
Check that router mac address filtering is not enabled.
Is the router issuing DHCP addresses similar to this example
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.21(Preferred)
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : 18 November 2009 18:25:01
Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : 19 November 2009 23:04:37
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1Was the working ping to the router address and or the DNS address?
What router do you have?

MemberHi Jeepers,
I have tried the router through another device and it is active. Ditto with the network cable. The router has a connection to the internet and the DHCP is enabled. The router I have is a Belkin and i pinged to the router address. The router is issuing very much the same DHCP addresses as your example above however it does say media state is disconnected. Would this have anything do to with the connection problems? Thanks.

Participantchames24 – Try this TCP/IP stack repair
Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:
netsh int ip reset reset.log (This will reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults)
netsh winsock reset catalog (This will reset winsock entries to installation defaults)
Reboot the machine.
Also double check that the wireless key is correct and the encryption settings match those of the router setting. You could try setting the encryption to open temporarily to get the connection working and then re-apply the encryption after.
Hope this helps
