Can Someone Guide Me On How Best To Install Windows XP On The N150?

Hi,

I purchased my Samsung N150 a short while ago and I’d really like to downgrade the OS from Windows 7 Starter to Windows XP but I’m unsure how best to proceed.

Is it as simple as creating a bootable USB device with a legitimate copy of Windows XP and installing it off that? Will this destroy my recovery partition? Are there any known issues with this method? Will I lose any functionality whatsoever?

Essentially, I want a clean install of Windows XP Home as my OS with the option of recovering back to the original Windows 7 Starter if anything ever goes wrong…

If anyone has successfully done this and can offer a brief guide on how best to proceed, I’d really appreciate it. I posted a similar thread in the Windows XP section of the forum but thought it might be an idea to post in the N150 section, too.

It’s not something I’ve ever done, but there are a few threads around on the topic. The thing to watch out for is to make sure all the drivers are available. I know on some models this has involved a bit of searching but they are out there.

If the forum search doesnt work too well, the google search does better:

What Sammy did you try this on and did downgrading permanently destroy your netbook’s ability to recover back to Windows 7 Starter?

On the subject of drivers… Is there a list anywhere of everything that I need for the N150?
