Built-in broadband signal booster

Hi,

I’ve got an N130 with built-in mobile broadband (Vodafone) and was wondering whether anyone has any experience of mobile signal boosters for this kind of netbook?

I don’t need a permanent solution (my place of work changes relatively frequently) but where I am currently the mobile signal is very poor and the modem won’t connect. Obviously, I don’t have a ‘dongle’ which would be the obvious place to plug-in/attached a signal booster, so has anyone managed anything similar with an integrated modem?

Have you tried a sim from another network? I don’t think the N130 card is locked but that would need checking.

If you have Bluetooth fitted then you can tether your mobile phone and use that connection in awkward reception areas. If you don’t have BT then small dongles are available cheaply.

Hi u4jef, welcome to the forum..
I don’t know which broadband modem you have but I have use two external modems a toshiba and a huawei. The first have in my case some reception problems and the second have a strong signal.
I have a N130 too and I have solder a second pcie connector but it doesn’t work. If you open your model, please take photos of the motherboard. It will be very useful for me and other members.
