Hello, I just got my nc10 and it’s just great, however I would like to install fedora on it. I don’t have an USB disk but I have an SD card. What is needed to be changed in BIOS to enable boot from the SD card? (is it possible at all?)
Unfortunately at this point it is not possible to boot from a card in the in-build card reader.
is there an other way I can install fedora without an USB disk?
It should be possible, though not easy.
I would have thought that if you can install GRUB from Windows then you could boot from a disk image of the Linux distribution (not sure if it would work from an NTFS partition), and install that way. I’ve not tried doing this myself though.
EDIT: You could take a look at THIS website, though it is quite old.
Personally I would wait and buy a cheap usb memory stick or an optical drive.
thanks for the info but i think i will just buy a usb memory stick)
thinking off at a Tangent :
Been a while since I played with Linux but I seem to remember a few years back that Mandrake had an option to install from files on the HDD with the process launched from within Windows.
Just had a quick Google & this may be of interest
That’s a nice find, I’d forgotten about UNetBootin.
EDIT: Just noticed that 71notout posted in the Ubuntu on the NC10 thread about successfully using UNetBootin (currently the last post in that thread).
