Yes, That would be great Jez. It’s not exactly a new product though, so I thought there must be a forum somewhere for the X series notebooks/netbooks.
I was trying to buy the Acer 1410 11.6″ but they are all sold out. (looks like the X120 is a nicer machine though in looks and build quality) There is a big 700 page thread on that notebook with lots of tips etc, yet nothing for the Sammy X120.

MemberJust decided on a whim, to cancel the order and wait for something newer or better.
Cheers anyway.October 27, 2010 at 7:40 pm #216669tonyp23
MemberHi Jez,
Play.com decided I should take delivery of the X120 and then send it back. Don’t know why!
I don’t know whether to keep it or not. I need to check out the X125.
Have you still got your X120 and is it a decent machine.
I needed a bit more power than the atom as I want to run Guitar Rig 4 with a few effects. Many Thanks.

I wonder if the dual core netbooks will offer enough processing power?

Sorry, I got you mixed up with another member.
I’ve seen posts on the net, where GR4 users are using NC10’s after some tweaks and getting by ok with simple patches for GR4, so I should be ok using it in the same way, if I decide to keep it.October 28, 2010 at 9:24 pm #216673samchess
MemberHi tonyp23; I’ve had the X120 for about a year now, and you can rest assured that it’s not only a decent machine, but a great machine. You should be aware that it’s sold with different batteries in different countries, in the UK I think it’s generally sold with a four-cell battery, but in my country with a high-capacity 6-cell battery, which can easely take you through a day if your’e not watching HD-video all the time. It performs a lot better than a netbook, and the overall user experience is that you never have to wait a little for things to happen like with a netbook, but you should not expect normal laptop-performance. HD-video is no problem. Heavy video editing is, and so will advanced 3D-gaming be, though that’s not a problem for me. I love it’s keyboard and screen. Also that it’s running very silently and cool. However, if your’e used to a netbook be prepared that it will feel more like a laptop with regard to size and weight. On the other hand, if you’re used to a laptop the X120 will seem very portable indeed. I have shifted between a Samsung netbook and the X120, but have ended up preferring the X120. I would not recommend the X125, it has a single core AMD processor which is really not very good, it’s gets warm, it’s not as speedy and uses more power. So to sum up; design and quality excellent, performance closer to a laptop, weight/size above a netbook, but still much more mobile than a typical laptop, battery life like a netbook with a 6-cell battery. If this seems to suit your needs I don’t think you will regret it. And compared to the X125 you shouldn’t think twice, even though the X120 is an older model (old and old: about a year old!). Hope this is helpful for you.

MemberI forgot to mention one thing; the X120 has integrated graphics which is more than suffient for HD-video and light gaming, whereas the X125 has a “real” graphics card which will allow for better gaming, though still not the latest advanced 3D games. But it will also drain your battery, so don’t expect much more than 4 hours of battery life with the X125even if you’re not using it for gaming, since the graphics card will drain the battery anyway . If you don’t need gaming that much the Intel dual-core processor and much longer battery life (app. 8 hours with the 6 cell battery) still makes the X120 a better choice.

MemberHi Samchess,
Thanks for the great information.
Luckily, the SU2300 version of the X120 from play.com, comes with the 6 cell battery so I am thinking I may keep it when it arrives.
I was expecting about 4 hrs battery life, so any more is a plus.
Can’t see anything on the horizon which seems as good as the X120 for similar cost. Luckily the Acer 1410 had sold out so I can stay with Samsungs nicer looks and quality keyboard.I’m glad you like it so much.
Good recomendation.
Many ThanksOctober 31, 2010 at 10:13 am #216672tonyp23
MemberHi,
Got the Samsung X120 on Friday. 6 cell battery and just 2 gb ram.
Really nice notebook. Lovely keyboard and very light weight. I thought I wouldn’t like the glossy screen but it has it’s own advantages. This will be used indoors on my knee most of the time so I don’t see any problem.
11.6″ screen is much better. You do lose the cuteness of the NC10 size but it is still lovely to feel and to use.
Movies and graphics look fantastic. 720 hd movies run perfectly. Haven’t tried 1080 should be fine.
Removed all the junk software and Passmark score went right up.
It is excellent with Guitar Rig 4 as long as I remember to turn wireless connection off. A simple patch with amp and a couple of effects uses just 10-20% cpu acording to Guitar Rig 4. That was a total surprise. Can that be right? No dropouts or noticible lag. Just checked patch. Using High white amp, Cat, EQ, Quad delay, Reverb and Flanger. 15%.
Brilliant machine with great battery life as long as you get the 6 cell 8850mAh battery.Cheers
