Hi!
Just bought an N220, and am immediately going to upgrade the existing 1GB to 2GB of RAM.
The existing RAM is DDR2 800MHz, and yet the 2GB chips on Crucial’s website are the same price for either the PC2-5300 667MHz or the PC2-6400 800MHZ.
http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.aspx?model=NC20-21
I’d assume the 800MHz is better (faster) but I heard there is a reason why the N110 prefers 667 even though 800 will work.
Anyone have any comments/advice?
Cheers
Hi RSIboy and welcome to the forum 🙂
I’m not sure about the N220 or N110, but I know that the NC10 will accept a faster RAM chip than the motherboard can cope with, so the motherboard effectively throttles back the speed of the RAM.
Hope that helps 🙂
just ordered up two of these from amazon, Crucial Technology CT25664AC800, I hope they’ll work, they have been used in a lot of netbooks for upgrading. I’ll let you all know how it works out and what if any benefit from the upgrade.
Crucial Technology CT25664AC800, these work fine. The n210 must have the same m/b as the rest of the netbook line, I really don’t know, just that it sees the ram and really is a very easy upgrade.
Yeah, sure it will work – just got in the post so will know for sure this evening 😉
btw, I’m pretty sure the N220 motherboard is different – it’s based on the Intel NM10 Express rather than the Intel 945GSE Express of the N140….
RSIboy – Welcome to the forum
Let us know how the ram upgrade goes 🙂
All good! 🙂
It was part no. CT25664AC800 from Crucial, noted on their system as being for the N140 (note there are several different part numbers for the same DDR2 PC2-6400 • CL=6 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR2-800 • 1.8V • 256Meg x 64 chips on Crucial’s sytem – it’s just for their order tracking)
Sorted

Cool – thank you for taking the time to report back 🙂
