motherMemberQuote:Do you have it running from the hard drive? If so how do you go about it? Or do you have a dvd drive plugged into your nc10?
You can plug a DVD drive in and do it that way. Some people have a ‘cracked’ exe file which gets round the need for the dvd. However this is illegal even if you own the original dvd.
I don’t think Jez would be too happy for us to give any further details on this sort of activity, so if you want to find out more I would suggest you Google it or something.
motherMemberFor me a netbook has got to be:
Weight under 1.5kg
Screensize under 12″
Price under £300IMO if it doesn’t satisfy these criteria it’s probably a more of a notebook.
motherMemberMine spent Christmas holidaying in Andorra and is off to Dubai and Australia in February.
My carbon footprint is going to be awful this year 🙁
At least the sammy is efficient with its power 🙂
motherMemberSo much legacy stuff wants a minimum vertical resolution of 768 pixels that I hope the next gen of netbooks have this as a minimum whether they are 10in or 11in screens.
motherMemberIt’s just q3a isn’t it?
December 30, 2008 at 5:38 pm in reply to: Will Battlefield Heroes be able to run on the Samsung NC10? #177755motherMemberI think the beta has been tested on the 1000h and worked okay at around 20 – 25fps. I’ll search out the link…
motherMemberDescent 3 will work fine. GTA Vice City plays well which is about 4 years newer than Descent 3. Quake 3 which was released around the same time plays flawlessly at 1024×600. I think the rule is that any 3d games of about 4 of 5 years ago or older are easily playable.
motherMemberYou should really do a forum search before you ask this sort of question, it has already been asked. Sims 1 and 2 both seem to work fine although sims 2 is a bit laggy in places.
motherMemberThese wont show up until April at the earliest at which point you could probably ebay your NC10 if you’re that desperate. You can play the waiting game forever, there’ll always be something better just on the horizon. Considering how cheap they are it’s not really worth the wait without a netbook.
As for the ‘I’ll take a big laptop if I want to play games’ argument, well that’s just not an option if you are lugging a load of extra stuff around as well. The size and weight of the 10in netbooks is a perfect compromise when working away from home as it just fits in your briefcase no problem.
Anyway, I’ll be buying one of these when they come out if they are around £300. I’ll put my NC10 up for sale. Reckon I’ll probably get about £200 for it by then so £80 for 6 months or so netbooking isn’t so bad.
December 19, 2008 at 9:59 pm in reply to: I think I might wait… NVIDIA GPU equiped Netbooks coming before Mid-2009. #176275motherMemberI don’t think people want a desktop replacement netbook but better graphics would be good and a lot of people want it, just type netbook games into google.
Once we get nvidia graphics and 768+ in the screen’s vertical then I’ll upgrade my sammy.
motherMemberfor £12.99 delivered from play why not?
motherMemberNC10 will generally play graphic intensive games of about up to 4 years ago. Any newer than that and it will struggle or if it requires something like Hardware T&L it just plain wont work.
Best to dig out the old games or get into the bargin bin at PCworld.
motherMemberYeah, I’ve noticed some improvements. It made a real difference for GTA:VC.
motherMemberRome Total War works well at 1024×600 with settings on low. Very little lag.
motherMemberYeah, I went for the Kingston in the end. £16 delivered is still very cheap.
