Wondered if anyone else is having this problem: After disabling a lot of the start-up items and doing some other tweaking, my NC10 now boots in 35 seconds, which is great. But after that it takes another 25-35 seconds for the wireless to find and connect to my signal. It’s not my wireless, as all the other laptops we own or have owned (including an Eee PC, a Dell Inspiron 1420, and a Compaq) all find and connect much more quickly once they’ve booted (though the only one that boots faster than the NC10 is the Eee). Is this normal behavior for the NC10? Anything I can do?
It does take a few seconds for the wireless to connect as during this time it is searching for a network, verifying encryption information, requesting an IP address, etc.
However, that said 30 seconds after boot up is quite slow. Is the network you’re connecting to top of the priority list?
Yes — it’s the only wireless network on the list.
How long does it take most of you from turning on to connecting to a wireless signal?
By the time windows has booted and is ready to use… my wireless is ready. I’m never waiting for it to connect.
Same here, wireless is connected by the time boot up is finished.
Or maybe I’m not correctly recognizing when the NC10 has fully booted. I’m saying it’s fully booted when homescreen icons are up and the pointer is movable and I can click on and open programs. But there are still things loading in the system tray after that — including wireless.
Well if there are still things loading in the system tray then the “boot up” process has not finished…
hi, i have the exact same problem too.
i tweaked my nc10 for fast boot time a month ago, then i upgraded the bios and now i have to wait many seconds after boot to have the wireless working. I was considering to reformat my netbook to original condition to solve this problem.
