Hi everyone,
First time post so let’s jump to it. Can anyone help an idiot sort out his networking woes?
I have a Netgear DG834G that was set not to broadcast the SSID.
This causes much consternation amongst our two NC10’s. (Yes, we have two – one for me, one for wifey).
Having tried setting up two manual profiles with all the correct information they won’t connect to the t’internet unless I have the router broadcast its SSID.
Now broadcasting the SSID isn’t a major concern, but I would have liked to keep it that way.
Any thoughts / ideas ?
Thank you very much and bye.
Ian
Set the router to broadcast the SSID…. then connect to the network.
Go to Wireless Network Connection Properties, click on the SSID name and click properties. Go to Connection and ensure “Connect when this network is in range” is ticked.
Go to the Association tab and tick “Connect even if this network is not broadcasting”.
Go back to the router and switch off broadcasting SSID. You may need to restart the laptop to make sure but hopefully this will do the trick.
Having said all of that… setting up Profiles manually *should* do the trick. Just make sure you’ve got all of the details correct and that the “Connect even if this network is not broadcasting” option is ticked.
aatay92…you’re a star…worked a treat.
Thank you.
