Got my NC10 on Friday. Download speed seems a bit suspect, taking 20-odd minutes to download AVG 8 anti-virus sitting almost on top of the router (takes a couple of mins on my Vaio) and dropping out frequently a couple of rooms away where the Vaio and my daughter’s HP laptop have no problems. Anyone else had similar problems?
TaNovember 25, 2008 at 9:00 pm #171465ezmanMemberWifi rock solid for me, speed fine, though depends on each particular site of course…
November 25, 2008 at 9:35 pm #171466Richard TMemberTry downloading the newest drivers from the samsung site..
November 25, 2008 at 9:44 pm #171467jordibMemberthe exact same thing happened me when i got mine on saturday but after a few hours it got faster an now it works lie a charm. dont know wot caused it but hope urs fixes itself.
November 25, 2008 at 9:48 pm #171468chilosMemberThanks, that’s reassuring. Waited long enough for it to come into stock, would hate to have to send it back. I’ll try the driver download too.
November 26, 2008 at 5:03 am #171473ceruleanMemberI had wireless issues out of the box. I ended upgrading the drivers to the ones on the Samsung site and all is good now. Looks like possibly some of the NC10’s shipped with a buggy driver.
November 26, 2008 at 11:02 am #171469chilosMemberTried to update drivers but Samsung site says no downloads available for NC10.
November 26, 2008 at 11:16 am #171462plasmapuffMemberThe Update Manager doesn’t work out of the box.
You have to manually go to their website and download the driver individually.
driver downloadNovember 27, 2008 at 1:17 am #171474ceruleanMemberweird .. everything was working great last night .. then i go to use it today and had the same issues (new driver) — starts losing packets about 10ft from the access point. AugH! I reinstaled the driver and presto, everything started working again ?!?! very odd. Throughout the entire exercise, it always shows excellent or very good connectivity but simply doesn’t work quite right.
seems software or driver related but haven’t quite figured out what is different. Very strange.
December 2, 2008 at 3:24 am #171475elanMemberI just updated my wlan drivers and things are looking better already. My winamp streams were buffering a lot in places where they shouldn’t have. They work much better now 🙂
December 2, 2008 at 11:56 am #171464FreddyMemberI think downloading AVG Antivirus is not the best to control the speed with, I’ve downloaded it too and it is slow, very slow. Try downloading something else and you will probably get higher speeds, I think the slow download is because of AVG’s serverns, not the NC10’s fault.
December 2, 2008 at 5:56 pm #171476AndrewMemberThe NC10 does not feature the N Draft. Is it of any importance?
December 6, 2008 at 8:51 pm #171470uofkMemberjust got a black nc10 from dixons online..meant to be for christmas but thought id check it was all working…wireless sometimes wont connect even although i have full signal strength . When it does connect i get intermittent sufing, keeps dropping out. Tried the latest samsung drivers it worked for a few hours now back to no internet access even although apparently connected,,,have i got a dodgy wireless card..thinking about sending back. All other laptops in house connect fine. Is it easy to change the wireless card for something else. any help would be much appreciated.
cheers
December 6, 2008 at 10:05 pm #171478hikerpaMemberI had the exact same problem. I was at full strength but couldn’t connect to the internet. I went with the Atheros AR5006X Network adapter and the driver version is 5.3.0.45.
Heres the link to the Acer wifi driver from another post.
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/115677This driver works well once it makes the connection. When I first try to connect it seems likes it’s not going to but it does and then I can surf from site to site without any problems. Hope that helps you out.
