Installed and seems to have picked up everything except the memory card drivers. So all ok here! Used the product key for the the beta test as well, cool.
Will report back after more testing.April 29, 2009 at 11:26 pm #190190bikitfaceMemberinstalled as well. i didn’t use a product key though.
everything working fine.April 30, 2009 at 3:17 am #190176HanzoMemberDid you install the driver for VX800? If the windows experience index shows 1.0, that means the driver is not 100% right.
April 30, 2009 at 4:33 am #190177dennyaMemberYou can install the Memory Card slot drivers under Win 7. What you have to do is extract the Zip file, then right-click on the SETUP.EXE file for the drivers and set the Compatibility Mode to Windows Vista SP1. Then the drivers will install fine.
If you don’t do this, the installer does an operating system version check, doesn’t recognize Win 7, and aborts the install.
(I chose Vista instead of XP for compat. mode in case there were differences in the drivers between XP and Vista; Win7’s driver model is identical to Vista’s.)
The card slot driver is the only one you should have to install; all the others are either built into Win 7, or will come down from Windows Update.

Windows 7 will be available in several different versions:-
Windows 7 Starter (AKA
Crippleware)
*Windows 7 Home Premium
*Windows 7 Professional
*Windows 7 Enterprise
*Windows 7 Ultimate
Windows 7 Home Basic will also be sold, but only to emerging markets.Windows 7 Starter is the version likely to be available on netbooks and, yes, the rumour is that it will only run three concurrent applications :((
May 1, 2009 at 5:47 pm #190169TheRingMemberjust installed the latest rc1 build and its installed a ok as mentioned before only need the drivers for the memory card reader, all the rest a ok.
those with norton (no need to scream at me lol) certain packages wont work i.e nis 2009 or av 2009. otherwise its pretty god damn stable although disabled a few of the visual tweaks to speed it up. still running aero and it copes fine

May 4, 2009 at 7:28 pm #190178dennyaMemberOh, yeah, the Samsung utilities don’t work fully The Samsung power management doesn’t work, nor do many of the Fn key combos. Hopefully Samsung will do Win 7 versions of the utility apps, but for now, XP is your best bet to maximize battery life.

[/quote1241531471]Install the Easy Display manager (download the XP version from software section of the Samsung website) and it installs fine. This then makes all the blue hot keys (including the brightness and volume) work just fine.
BUT
You must install the updated display driver from Windows Update first and you must restart the machine after installation.
May 5, 2009 at 7:25 pm #190170TheRingMemberyep confirm all the hotkeys work as do the onscreen icon, had to install easy display and the samsung keyboard software all a ok
May 6, 2009 at 2:49 am #190179dennyaMemberPower management software doesn’t work under 7100, does it? Didn’t under 7000…
May 6, 2009 at 6:18 pm #190195graemene24MemberThank you Marc for your help.
May 6, 2009 at 7:50 pm #190180dennyaMemberWeird. I installed the hotkey software, and it causes Windows to report the app (some “speedup” aspect of it) has crashed, AND It corrupts the disk to the point of needing ChkDsk. Be careful.
