When I turn my machine on the Wifi connects fine. However if I hibernate the machine, 9 times out of ten, it will just constantly say ‘acquiring’ and never actually connect.
It does it on any network… My one at home, the one at my parents house. Even if it was connected to that network before I put it into hibernation.
More annoying is that even if I disconnect and try reconnecting it still just says ‘acquiring’ and still doesn’t connect.
Anyone else had this problem?
If anyone knows of a fix it would be appreciated!
You tried to “right-click” on the wlan icon in the systemtray and pick “repair”?
Yeah, it then takes ages to connect… but eventually it does.. It’s annoying though… my desktop is wireless and has no problem coming out of hibernation
if i’m too close to my wi-fi router it won’t re-connect, or connect on boot up ( 2 foot )! further away its no problem
I had exactly this problem with my desktop machine and never got to the bottom of it despite much
research. I cured it by changing the pci wifi card I was using for a USB one. The pic card is now back in use on another machine, however, and works fine!
Sometimes a reboot of the router would work. Sometimes a reboot of both router and (cable) modem.
Ocassionally, via the dos box, ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /release or ipconfig /renew would work.
Try changing the wireless channel, maybe there’s some interference.
I felt, without evidence, that the problem was somewhere in my Belkin wifi router, though it appears to work fine now. If you have access to another router, try using that and see if the problem still occurs.
My feeling is that the problem is not in the Sammy but in the router.
I’m sorry not to have a definitive answer, this is a really annoying problem, I know.
