Sweet-P
MemberI have another question 🙂
I have set the Power Options to put the system in Standby when I close the lid (not hibernate). I only assigned hibernate when I press the Fn+F1 key. Yet I have noticed that whenever I close the NC10’s lid without shutting down my computer, it blinks for a while as if it is in standby; however, when I open the lid I can’t awaken it. I have to press the Power On button and then it comes back on from a hibernate state. Is this normal to do even though I have it set to go to Standby when I close the lid? Perhaps it only goes into Standby for a certain period of time and then automatically goes into hibernate??
Thanks again for all your terrific help in this forum!

MemberYou’re correct it goes into Standy and then into Hibernate after 15 / 20 / 25mins depending on whether you’re using Max Battery Life, Normal or Max Performance.
Have a look in the Samsung Battery Manager settings under “Power Schemes”.
I personally don’t use hibernate at all and I have disabled it completely.

MemberI sure wish there was a way to get it to do a complete shut down with closing the lid like my wife’s full size HP laptop. See no way to configure this on so however…

Member@lucynethel it’s definately possible to do that under Vista but I’ve had a quick look and I can’t see how to do it in XP sorry.

MemberOK I found a way to get it to turn off in XP! Just wait till the battery dies then close the lid?

[/quote1229253867]lol – well I guess that’s one solution. In a similar vain, here’s my solutions – switch off your NC10, then close the lid ;)!

[/quote1229275983]Just curious….why don’t you like hibernate? Isn’t is supposed to be quicker than regular startup with everything intact, and uses no battery as compared to Standby?

MemberMy NC10 only comes back from hibernate marginally faster than booting up for me so I don’t think it’s worth it. Some people also report that using hibernate causes fragmentation of your hard drive.
I guess it depends what you’re using your NC10 for… personally I use a combination of standby and switch on/off and that works for me.
