MemberJust got my Samsung NC10 (Black) in the UK and I need to find a North American adaptor to replace the UK adaptor that came with it. I am having a lot of trouble finding – can anyone advise of retailer ( preferably online as the NC10 is not yet sold in Canada) that I can find a replacement adaptor for the NC10?

MemberI wonder if sammy might switch them out for you, here is a link to their canada contact info if you want to give it a shot:
http://www.samsung.com/ca/info/contactus.html
Also, there was a thread somewhere on here about a charger on ebay, so that would be another option if sammy won’t do it for you.

MemberThanks but the number listed in that link doesn’t work from Canada and I haven’t been able to find a correct number. Also no e mail contact there as you probably saw. I am a little hesitant to go the E Bay route just yet – NC10 is still quite new and not sure about the safety of e bay. Thanks though.

[/quote1231453220]You do not need to replace the charger as it works on 100v-240v 50-60hz, you only need a travel adapter which fits on the uk plug, like this because the charger voltage is compatible world wide (100-240v)

Member…or just replace the figure 8 cable with a local one – maybe it’s just me, but I must have half a dozen or so lying around…

MemberAgreed – just replace the mains side cable (figure of eight) with a US version. They are easy to come across. Will save you alot of time and money.

MemberI can’t continue to use the travel adaptor as long term use of those is not recommended. No idea how to change the figure 8? Can you tell me please? I’d appreciate any help! I’ve been searching and even the retailers which are presently selling Samsung NC10 in the US don’t seem to stock the adaptor.

MemberI just realized what you meant by figure 8 and I do have a couple here – is it safe to do this? I mean, are they standard or is there any difference with the particular adaptor? That would solve my problems if it works!

MemberI have changed the figure eight for a local one and so far – so good! Thanks so much for the advice. Only worry left is whether this fix will cause any damage to computer. Does anyone know if power cords are interchangeable? It seemed almost too easy.

MemberIt is perfectly safe to change the mains cable that connects to the AC adaptor.
Samsung actually only make one AC adaptor and then put a different mains cable in the box depending on where the laptop is going to be sold (US, UK, Europe). This keeps the cost down for them as they only have to make one type of AC adaptor and just supply it with a different cable in each region/country!

MemberThanks everyone, this solution is working perfectly, can’t believe I didn’t know it! Samsung responded with the same answer, BTW, just this morning. THanks again, great forum as well. As a happy Samsung NC10 owner it’s great to see a site like this up and running.

MemberProblem solved, thanks everyone. Samsung confirmed by e mail that this is the appropriate solution.

MemberJust to chip in here, I’d be interested in a 2nd adapter though so I don’t have to fish the adapter out of the bag and mess about behind the sofa to reach the socket to plug in the adapter at home. If I just had the DC cable to plug into at home, and then the other adapter in the bag for charging on the move, that would be ideal.
yeah, I know, I’m lazy 🙂

Memberissue resolved and thanks to everyone. Samsung confirmed changing the power cord is the appropriate means so you were all correct and my fears have been allayed! Thanks

Memberyou may have to wait a while for a second adaptor I can definitely confirm that none are available anywhere in the us. Samsung says that part should be available for order soon on its ‘parts’ page though.
