MemberHas anyone else noticed that the variety of games has really shrunk over the last several years… its FPS of some sort or RTS games and some racing and sports thrown in… World of Goo is a nice change as well as Little Big Planet etc… but those seem to be few and far between compared to the PlayStation 1 generation….
WOG runs fine on NC10 by the way… I just installed it.December 22, 2008 at 4:37 pm #176812Comet
MemberI think the main reason for less games and variety is the cost to produce the games now.

MemberThere are some nice “good old” games on the internet. And for free! I like this Super Mario look-a-like (well maybe it is simply a copy, since it uses the super mario name, looks like the real thing I think Nintendo might have some copyright issues with it :-)) It can be downloaded here: http://www.zdnet.nl/downloads.cfm?id=91247
It does install a toolbar, which can be removed simply (control centre/ software of start/ programms/ super mario forever toolbar/ uninstall). Only on startup an ad is shown.
Hope you enjoy!

MemberI was on the look out for simple “good” games yesterday. I got as far as looking for North & South.
For example I was thinking of this 2 player Amiga game I had whereby snow would fall from the top of the screen and you had to channel it into certain areas but you could move onto your opponents half of the screen and wreck their constructions – of course they could do the same. So it was a balance between keeping your channels working and sabotaging theirs.
Simple and great fun.

MemberI actually think you’re wrong, there is still a lot of variety in games, look at spore for example, or, as you state, world of goo. However, the fps genre of games is basically the mainstream (along with MMOs) and so it’s what you hear about mostly.
I’d love to give you a list of games which I saw recently (though badly compiled in my opinion) which will show you the variety of the previous years games to a tee. In fact, let me see if I can get a hold of it.
