Hi
Just got the Sammy, but having trouble setting up the webcam with WindowsLive, which doesn’t give me the “Webcam” option as where my Dell laptop does.
Help. What am i doing wrong?
SteveFebruary 10, 2009 at 12:52 pm #183184adatay92MemberDoes the Namuga 1.3M Webcam show up correctly in Device Manager?
Is it enabled?
Does the webcam work with Samsung PlayCamera application?
If you’re still having problems try reinstalling the webcam drivers from the Samsung website and then try Windows Live Messenger again.
February 10, 2009 at 1:59 pm #183182jezMemberYou do mean Live Messenger? I can confirm that it can work as I was chatting to the Mrs from the train the other day!
February 11, 2009 at 12:04 am #183188siupiuMemberI think you are using the New version of live messenger ( 2009), right? it didn’t work for it, so I uninstall it and install the 8.5 again, it work fine on 8.5, for the install file for 8.5 you can google it, and easy to find
February 26, 2009 at 2:35 pm #183191sonysandyMemberHas anyone got their mic working with Live messenger? My cam works fine but not the mic you see! 🙁
February 28, 2009 at 8:22 pm #183185BobHonMemberYes I’ve got the mic working with Live Messenger. It may be your settings, have you got Microphone Boost turned on? Find it in Control Panel, sounds, microphone tab, may be in advanced or settings.
I tried to run it without this turned on and my sound at the other end was very quiet.
If this doesn’t work then get back to me and I’ll look through all of my other settings for you.February 28, 2009 at 8:26 pm #183186BobHonMember[quote1235852593=siupiu]

[/quote1235852593]Hi SIUPIU, can you let me know what didn’t work on Live Messenger for you please. I am getting a continuous beep, beep, beep noise which is very irritating. But only when I use the video as well as the audio.
If you had the same and fixed it with v8.5 then I’ll grab a download.March 1, 2009 at 3:14 am #183189siupiuMemberWebcam and video call button is gray ( can’t press), but when i go to webcam setting, it show my webcam..strange, so I install 8.5 and Work fine with 8.5, no problem at all…Webcam, video call is ok ( I tried)
March 2, 2009 at 11:37 am #183183jezMemberAnyone also find their webcam video size is limited to “small” only?
March 2, 2009 at 1:00 pm #183192sonysandyMemberYeah I’ve noticed it limited to small too, but I’ve only tested it so far on mobile broadband, I actually assumed (wrongly I see) that was the cause.

[/quote1235999184]What OS are you quoting this for? Not XP I’m guessing. We’ve got Sounds and Audio devices in Control Panel. Regardless of the settings I can’t find sound boost! 🙁
March 3, 2009 at 5:05 am #183190siupiuMemberMine one is not, maybe it is because I use apatch to remove the advert. at the bottom of msn..

[/quote1236116166]Microphone boost is in both XP and Vista. For XP its in Control Panel, Sounds & Audio Devices, Voice Tab, Voice Recording Volume, Advanced, 1 Microphone Boost check box.
Worth a try. Also you need to Mute the microphone volume on the volume controls mixer. I know that it doesn’t sound right, but that was what the Skype help set up said to do!!! Double click on the volume control in the system tray in XP and the Master Volume mixer opens up. Click in the Mute checkbox against Mic Volume.
Good luck let me know how it goes.
March 9, 2009 at 2:03 pm #183194sonysandyMemberOk thans for that, although when I go into the Voice tab, I can’t click on the Advanced button (grey’d) under recording volume.
