For those who just twigged – you can setup a virtual CD/DVD Drive on your sammy and with all that storage, you can keep loads of ISO images to mount / unmount at will.
I’m currently using free ‘Virtual Clonedrive’ on my sammy no probs.
If you goto control panel – user accounts – setup your username/password same as your XP pc and you can fileshare thru your wireless router no worries.
If you want to use game iso’d, you’ll have to look at something like Alcohol
Oh and Innotek VirtualBox is going onto my sammy for a play (if you fancy playing with linux etc and dont want to mess your Windoze up)
For those who are into HF radio – HRD Deluxe is a free Amateur Radio suite that contains DM780 – connect a receiver into your mic in and it decodes Morse, SSTV and digital modes (try PSK 7.035Mhz USB & 14.070Mhz)
Great little machine – got my blue one from Currys when PCW next door wanted £30 more
and the price has gone up – anyone see daft sod asking £400 on fleabay?
Have fun peeps
December 4, 2008 at 5:29 pm #173738jezMemberhey uggy, thanks for the tips. I’m looking at setting something up myself sooner or later.
As per the forum rules discussing this kinda thing in respect to circumnavigating copy protection on games etc is out of bounds but of course we both know there legitimate reasons for wanting to do this as not all discs are subject to copyright.
Anyway, enough of the boring stuff. That virtual clone drive looks like a neat little package and I look forward to giving that a go. I am actually writing up this topic for my FAQ page and also mentioned Alcohol as an example commercial package but something free that will do the job would be great – thanks for the tip 🙂
Let me know how you get on with the VM. My to do list is ever growing but I do mean to copy over one of my VPC virtual drives sometime to see how it works. The main thing stopping me is the time to copy the multi gb file over!

You want to be careful with Daemon tools though. It includes added adware and such now. You can google to find the last version that doesn’t if you still want to use their free version.

[/quote1228465453]Yes, but the adware option can be unchecked during the install of the newest version.
December 6, 2008 at 8:20 pm #173740megachiropMemberMicrosoft also has a free virtual cd utility:
It’s an unsupported tool aimed mainly at msdn subscribers, but I’ve used it before and it seems to work fine.
